Andrew Gilding vs. Jeffrey de Graaf
Andrew Gilding has not been quick out of the Euro Tour first round blocks this year. He has played seven and lost four. Only one saw him average over 91. His recent form is five wins from his last ten and he is blowing hot and cold, with four sub 90 averages.
His last two matches saw back to back 0-6 defeats to Florian Hempel and Ryan Meikle last week. Not a great warm up for this weekend.
De Graaf does not hit too many big averages, but he is a very effective player. His seasonal average is just 89, but he plays most of his darts on the Nordic Baltic Tour, which depresses his average.
He played Rob Cross in a recent World Series Match and while he lost 4-6, he averaged 102. He averaged 105 in a Euro Tour qualifier last week. Like Gilding, De Graaf has won five of his last ten, but he was runner up in PC10 last month and followed that up by reaching the last 16 in ET7, his only Euro Tour event of 2024.
Something similar or better, and he could put himself in the frame to make the European Championship. Gilding is 34th on the Euro Tour OOM, De Graaf 43rd. There is some pressure on Gilding to get some ranking money on his Euro Tour OOM.
