2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Preview

What a day it was for James Punt on Sunday. Three from four in the afternoon, then a fabulous full house in the evening session with five winners from five bets. Incredible tipping and he goes again this evening. Check out his 2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday match previews and tips are below.

Luke Humphries vs. Mickey Mansell

Humphries has played two, lost two and is eliminated. He just has to go through the motions here. I dare say he isn’t that bothered about maybe finishing third and getting some more prize money. He hasn’t scored badly, but doing the wrong things at the wrong time means he has lost to James Wade, despite Wade averaging just 88, and Rowby-John Rodriguez.

Mansell is on top of the group and has already qualified. This really is a dead rubber. Mansell will want to win the group and get the £3500 bonus for doing so. He may lose and still top the group, but he would like to take some legs off Humphries at least.

It is always hard trying guess how motivated the player who is already eliminated is going to be. Will Humphries have the car waiting outside for a quick getaway, or will he want to win a match and regain some credibility?

Their H2H record is a surprising 3-3. Mansell won their first three matches between 2019 and 2021, Humphries their last three. They have all been reasonably close, with three 6-3, two 6-4 and a 6-5.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point over 7.5 legs @ 2.20 with Betfred, SpreadEx

Dave Chisnall vs. Ritchie Edhouse

Another dead rubber, with Edhouse already qualified and Chisnall eliminated. Chisnall’s loss of form is down to a bad back apparently. He is having to stand more erect to prevent the pain kicking in and that is making his darts less accurate.

Chizzy, a fit Chizzy, is 12-4 vs. Edhouse and 2-0 in 2024. Their last three have required a deciding leg, and now with a not very fit Chisnall, you would expect Edhouse to have the edge, or more.

Chisnall has lost his last seven matches, Edhouse has won eight of his last ten. Show no mercy Edhouse, get that bonus and top the group to land our bet.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Ritchie Edhouse to win -1.5 legs @ 1.95 with Ladbrokes

Cameron Menzies vs. Beau Greaves

Beau was our only losing bet yesterday and she has not got close to playing her best stuff so far. At least she has been quite honest by saying that she doesn’t really like the big stage and these big comps are not for her.

Menzies was not at his best in his match with Danny Noppert yesterday, but he still managed to take it to a deciding leg. He needs a win here and by getting four legs against Noppert, he has given himself a great chance to qualify, and maybe still win the group. He needs to get his head down and do a job here, preferably winning by the widest margin possible.

Menzies is 1.36 to win, I will take him on the handicap, but a quite conservative one. Greaves could click and then it could be closer.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Menzies to win -1.5 legs @ 1.67 with Hills

Danny Noppert vs. Martin Schindler

Both players need the win. Noppert sits on top of the group after two wins, Schindler is third on leg difference on two points. He played well in his 5-1 win over Beau Greaves yesterday, and he will need to play just as well if he is to have any hope of making it out of the group stage for the first time.

He is up against it, as Menzies will be expected to get a good win over Greaves. Playing after Menzies, means Schindler will know exactly what he needs to do. If Menzies wins with a big margin, it could be that Schindler cannot afford to drop even a single leg, and playing under that pressure would be very difficult.

Their H2H record is 4-1 to Noppert but Schindler did get his one win in their last match back in April. Three of their last four have required a deciding leg, and their only TV match was a 10-8 to Noppert in last year’s Matchplay. A close match is likely to be no good for Schindler.

Noppert is the 1.83 favourite, Schindler 2.00. If this was a ‘regular’ best of eleven leg match, I would go for an overs bet, but it is one of those strange matches were the players will be looking at leg differences rather than just a win. I will sit this one out. No bet.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: No Bet

James Wade vs. Rowby-John Rodriguez

This is a nice, straight fight. Whoever wins, qualifies. Wade is the 1.40 favourite, Rowby-John 3.25. Wade will fancy his chances as he has a 7-0 H2H record with Rodriguez. They have not played each other since meeting in the second round here in 2021 and Wade won that 10-2.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point James Wade to win -1.5 legs @ 1.80 with Betvictor, BET365

Martin Lukeman vs. Leonard Gates

Smash got off to a very slow start yesterday, going 0-3 down to Rob Cross, but he gathered himself together, started scoring well, and was able to take advantage of Cross missing a load of doubles. It was a scrappy win, but it was a win and he has put himself in with a great chance of topping the group and landing our bet on him to do so. He is the 1.53 favourite, with Gates 2.75.

Cross has to be expected to give Peter Wright a thrashing. So, Lukeman needs to win this to top the group. It is a nice straightforward task. Gates beat Peter Wright last night, so he still has a chance to qualify. Hopefully Smash does the business, but it is a no bet for me.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: No Bet

Rob Cross vs. Peter Wright

Wright has been hopeless so far and there is no reason to think that anything will change tonight. Wright has won their last two matches, back in March and the latest on in August. An off colour Snakebite has only averaged low 80s in his two matches so far, and that will not trouble Cross.

Cross threw away his match vs. Lukeman yesterday. He was 3-0 up in a first to five leg match, but he just lost his doubling radar, just as Lukeman found his scoring boots.

Cross is the 1.40 favourite and it would seem to be about the margin of victory rather than who wins.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Rob Cross to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Ladbrokes, Hills

Ross Smith vs. Connor Scutt

Ross Smith took advantage of a crocked Dave Chisnall, but he is not playing well. Two sub 90 averages so far and that is unlikely to be good enough here.

Scutt put in a poor display against Ritchie Edhouse yesterday, averaging just 86. That was his third sub 90 average in his last ten matches. He has hit four ton plus averages in the same ten matches, so he is a hard player to call. Plenty of talent, but not yet fully developed.

Scutt should be able to take advantage of an out of form Smith. He is 2-1 vs. Smith and none of their three matches were close. Two ended 6-1, the other 6-3. A wide margin win for Scutt would seem possible.

Amazingly, Smith is the 1.67 favourite, Scutt 2.30. OK, if Smith was playing well, but he has not done that so far.

2024 Grand Slam Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Connor Scutt to win @ 2.30 with Ladbrokes, Hills
