2025 UK Open Friday Night Preview
Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2025 UK Open Friday Night preview.
Not a great afternoon session with just the four winners from ten selections, but no great damage done. All five of our outright selections are into the 4th round, but Gerwyn Price has drawn Conor Scutt, so at least one will be out. Our big outsider, Alan Soutar dispatched Callan Rydz 6-0 and he has drawn Canadian Matt Campbell this evening.
This will be a very quick run through the 4th round draw as there is only a couple of hours between sessions, so I will not be writing up the matches in any depth. Gut feel time…and what a gut it is.
The fourth round matches are first to ten legs, so less of a punchers chance for the underdogs, in theory.
All odds are with the sponsor, Ladbrokes. They are first to price up and I suspect the others will just copy them.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: 1 point Kevin Doets to beat Michael Smith @ 2.15
Smith is suffering with arthritis in his wrist and it is badly affecting his game. He has lost nine of his last ten. Doets is a good player, but not in great form. Doets has hit six sub 90 averages in his last ten, but he did hit a ton average in round three. Doets beat Smith 3-2 in the World Championship in their last match.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Jermaine Wattimena to beat Ritchie Edhouse @ 1.65
The Bank of Edhouse has been shut recently and he has won just three of his last ten matches. Wattimena played nicely to see off Florian Hempel 6-3 earlier today.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Danny Noppert to beat Daryl Gurney @ 1.70
Superchin is not in good form, losing five of his last ten matches. Noppert is in decent form, winning six of his last ten and he has been scoring with a good deal of consistency. H2H 8-8.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Madars Razma to beat Ricardo Pietreczko @ 2.30
Razzmatzz put in a solid performance to beat Ryan Meikle 6-1 earlier. He has won six of his last ten matches. Pikachu has lost five of his last ten matches and while there have been some good performances, he is opposable right now. Razma is 2-0 vs. Pietreczko.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Ricky Evans to beat Dave Chisnall @ 2.25
Chizzy has won seven of his last ten matches, but he is not playing with any consistency. He has hit a 109 average, but two sub 80 averages in those last ten. He is still not back to his best form. Evans played nicely to beat Gabriel Clemens earlier. It went to a deciding leg and Evans smashed it. Ricky enjoys this event and has made at least the fifth round in four of the last five UK Opens.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Jonny Clayton to beat Gary Anderson @ 2.30
Clayton has won eight of their last ten matches and The Ferret is match fit, while Anderson has played only four matches in 2025, and lost three.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: Ryan Joyce to beat Andrew Gilding @ 1.70
Gilding is defending the champion’s prizemoney from 2023. An early exit would hurt his ranking big time. He would be feeling a bit nervous. Joyce, like Gilding, has won seven of his last ten matches and has come into some good form. He remains the best double hitter in the game, and that might swing it. H2H it is 2-2 and every match has ended 6-3.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: 1 point Alan Soutar to beat Matt Campbell @ 1.80
Soots is playing some great darts and his 6-0 win over Rydz today will have given him a big boost. It was a 98 average and Soutar is one of the most consistent heavy scorers in recent weeks. His low average in his last 12 matches is 94.99. Campbell is sporting a terror beard which is a bit intimidating, but while he has won seven of his last ten matches, five of those saw sub 90 averages.
2025 UK Open Friday Night Tip: 1 point Cameron Menzies to beat Mike De Decker @ 2.10
Their H2H record is 3-0 to Menzies and the Ayrshire Plumber has won 80% of his matches in 2025. He is not that consistent, but I’ll take odds against. De Decker has lost five of his last ten matches and he too is not very consistent.
Odds correct as of 18.00 UK time.
