2025 Night 6 Premier League Darts Preview
This Thursday’s action comes from Nottingham, check out James Punt’s 2025 Night 6 Premier League Darts preview below.
Night 5 Reflections
Night five saw a tiny +0.3 point profit, making our running tally for the PL +3.05 points. I’ll be able to buy a pint soon at this rate!
Night 6 comes from Nottingham, just a short drive from Leicester, where the players had two days of Players Championships to further hone their skills. The fact is that all of these players have played a lot of darts and done a lot of travelling in the last couple of weeks. And some of them are going to get a bit fed up very soon.
Littler Losses
Luke Littler lost two matches in Leicester. The two days were very nearly dominated by Gian Van Veen, who was runner up on Tuesday and won PC6 yesterday, losing to Joe Cullen and beating Luke Humphries respectively.
Van Veen was a winner waiting to happen at senior level and now that he has got one over the line, the sky is the limit for the World Youth Champion. Van Veen is not playing in PL, for now, but all of the PL players did go to Leicester, which surprised me. They had a mixed bag of results.
The PL table looks a lot closer at the top thanks to Luke Humphries losing in the quarter final last week, and Luke Littler winning the night in Brighton. Humphries is still two points clear. Nathan Aspinall has moved into third place, which is better for our ante post bet.
MVG remains inside the top four, but only by one point from Gerwyn Price, and two from Rob Cross. Propping up the table is Stephen Bunting, still winless, and Chris Dobey, who is pointless in the last four nights. Those two are feeling it now.
Luke Humphries vs. Luke Littler
Humphries played ten matches in midweek and won eight. He hit five ton plus averages and I thought that he did look a bit jaded, but his darts were still fine, his loss to Joe Cullen on Tuesday excepted. He only averaged 88.90 in that one. No doubt dazzled by playing against the GOAT.
He did get a bit of a towelling by Van Veen in the final, losing 3-8. He won his first two matches on Tuesday with ease, but after that, it was all a bit laboured. He won three matches in deciding legs and I would say that it is hard to see him at 100% of his capacity tonight.
Nuke On The Rampage
Luke Littler has been on the rampage. He has won twenty of his last twenty two matches. During that time Littler has won the UK Open, PL Night 5 and The Belgian Darts Open. He went to Leicester to continue the rout but lost 6-7 to Gian van Veen in the semi-final of PC5, and lost 5-6 to Dom Taylor in PC6, despite averaging 104. Littler’s seasonal win rate is now 80%, overtaking that of Humphries, and his seasonal average is 102.30.
Their H2H record is 9-7 to Littler and in 2025, 1-1. Humphries has won five of their last six matches. In their midweek matches, Littler was really smashing the 180s in. He only played two matches on Wednesday but hit eighteen maximums at 0.81 per leg. That made Humphries’ 0.42 per leg on Wednesday look pedantic. Their two PL matches in 2025 have had 180 per leg rates of 0.81, the same as Littler alone hit yesterday.
Littler Fav
Littler is 1.57 to win this match, Humphries 2.38. Perhaps Humphries is a bit of value given their recent H2H record, but it did look like his tank was running a bit low in the midweek. Littler just got beat by people playing their absolute A+ games against him. Littler played eight matches midweek and his opponents’ combined 3 dart average was 99.10. That was just the average coming back at him. To beat Littler, you must become Littler.
The bookies’ computers are saying that this match should be between nine and ten legs in duration. That should be long enough for plenty of maximums.

Rob Cross vs. Chris Dobey
Chris Dobey is struggling right now. He has lost seven of his last ten matches and has lost his last four PL matches. Since he won PC3 a month ago, he has just gone into reverse form wise. Strange.
Rob Cross played really well last Thursday, averaging 109 across his two matches, but still managed to lose 5-6 to The Asp. He then went to Belgium for the Euro Tour opener at the weekend, averaged 98.80 and lost 2-6 to Ross Smith.
It was then off to Leicester for the two Players Championships. Cross averaged 99.12 across his five matches but only won three. Scoring wise Voltage is in great form, but he has lost five of his last ten matches overall. Cross has won three of his five quarter finals and he can be fancied to beat the struggling Dobey tonight.
Their H2H record is 9-8 to Dobey. Of course, my new golden rule is not to back the ‘impossible to predict’ Rob Cross. I just get him wrong every time. I would back him, but I’ll leave the decision up to you. No bet for me.
2025 Night 6 Premier League Tip: No Bet
Stephen Bunting vs. Gerwyn Price
Stepehen Bunting got a bit of a confidence boost when winning a couple of matches in Belgium at the weekend, but he lost his quarter final 5-6 to Ross Smith. Bunting made the quarter final yesterday, losing that 4-6 to Madars Razma.
He has now won seven of his last ten matches, turning around a run of five straight defeats. Will that be enough to get his confidence up to where it needs to be to get his first PL match win?
Gerwyn Price is a bit of a head scratcher right now. He has lost five of his last ten matches but hit five ton plus averages. He was dire against MVG last week, but like Bunting, he went to Belgium for the Euro Tour and reached the quarter final. More double trouble cost him that match against Mike de Decker, losing 4-6.
He then went to Leicester and lost two of his three matches. His last match lost, was a 4-6 defeat to Stephen Bunting.
H2H
Their H2H record now stands at 12-7 to Price. Bunting has now won his last three matches against Price, two of them this year, so he will come into this feeling like he has a good chance, which may take some of the PL pressure off him.
I see this as a hard call. Bunting has that good recent H2H record against Price, but he will still be shitting himself that his PL record could be 0-6 at the end of it. Price is very hard to call, scoring well, but having occasional doubling nightmares. He is not banker material right now.
These two have played nine best of eleven leg matches and six have been over 9.5 legs, including their last four. I’ll take a chance on another.
2025 Night 6 Premier League Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 generally available
Nathan Aspinall vs. Michael van Gerwen
Aspinall has put his form revival down to beating MVG 6-3 in Dublin on Night 3. The Asp still rates MVG as the best of all time (hasn’t he heard of Joe Cullen?) and beating him gave him a real lift.
His form hasn’t got that much better in reality, since beating MVG he has won eight of fourteen matches, but his PL record is good, reaching two of the last three finals and winning all three quarter finals. I like his attitude towards the PL and if he is feeling more confident, then good. We got a nice price for him to make the play offs, and a win here would do no harm.
MVG Out Of Form
Michael Van Gerwen, on the other hand, is not in great form. He has only lost one quarter final match, but he not yet reached a final. He is in the midfield scrap. That reflects his decline in form in 2025 so far. Van Gerwen’s win rate in 2025 is just 52% but he continues to score well on the whole.
I was impressed by how he played in the Players Championships in the mid-week. He hit some big averages, including a 108 and a 113, but he only made one quarter final, losing that 4-6 to the rampant Gian van Veen.
Their H2H record is 19-8 to MVG and he is 7-3 for their last ten. Van Gerwen is the 1.62 favourite to win tonight, Aspinall 2.37 to repeat his win in Dublin. Of their last ten best of eleven matches, seven have been over 9.5 legs and another close one would be no great surprise.
