2025 Austrian Darts R1 Preview

James Punt has already posted his outright betting preview and tips for this Euro Tour event, read it here. Check out his 2025 Austrian Darts Open R1 preview and tips below.

Madars Razma vs. Ian White

Razma made the third round last week with two sub 90 averages and a decent 96.02 in his win over Noppert. He has won five of his last ten matches and his scoring is unpredictable, to say the least.

Ian White has shown good form in 2025. He was runner up in PC9 and a semi-finalist in PC12 just over two weeks ago. In between he qualified for PC5 and PC6. He is not back to his best but he will certainly be feeling more confident.

Their H2H record is 5-3 to Whit,e although most of that form is very old. White has lost his last three matches, but he has been scoring better than Razma on the whole.

Ricardo Pietreczko vs. Tom Bissell

Ricardo has started to show some decent form having been off his game for a while. He has won seven of his last ten matches and won all four of his first round matches on the Euro Tour this season. Last week, he faced a Euro Tour debutant, Adam Paxton, in the first round and he won that 6-1.

He has very recent wins over Gerwyn Price, Damon Heta and Niko Springer, and has hit some decent averages. He remains a good finisher and can take his chances when they come.

Tom Bissell won a tour card in January and has a win rate of 41%. He has won five of his last ten matches, three of which were in the qualifier for this, his Euro Tour debut. He has managed one average over 92 in those last ten matches. Bissell has only played on TV once and he doesn’t have much experience on stage. It will hardly be rocking this afternoon, but he is bound to be nervous.

Can Ricardo put another Euro Tour debutant to the sword?

Matthew Dennant vs. Rowby-John Rodriguez

It might not be a big box office match to end the session, but it is an interesting match.

Matthew Dennant has played in seven Euro Tour events and won just one match. That was back in 2019. He played in ET1 this year and blew his chance against Ricardo Pietreczko. Losing 5-6. It was soul destroying.

He now faces an Austrian player who will have the support of whatever crowd they have been able to round up for a Friday afternoon session. Rowby-John Rodriguez is a very experienced player who has been struggling for form for a couple of years now.

The Austrian has won 61% of his matches in 2025, but the problem is that he is now playing at Challenge Tour level, having lost his tour card at the end of last year.

At his best, Rodriguez reached a Euro Tour final in 2022 and four other quarter finals in his career. He is also a two time World Cup of Darts runner up, played in seven World Championships and a total of 28 major championships, without much success it must be said. He averaged 81 in the qualifying tournament yesterday.

Can the home player, with his bags of stage experience, beat a player who has had big problems winning his first round matches on the Euro Tour? His odds are big enough to take a chance that he can.
