2025 Austrian Darts Sunday Preview

Three more winners from five bets last night for James Punt. Check out his 2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday evening preview and tips below.

Daryl Gurney vs. Jermaine Wattimena

It was a good performance by Superchin yesterday, dealing with a hostile crowd, but still able to average a ton and beat Suljovic 6-1. The trick now is to back it up with another good performance and that is something that he hasn’t been doing very often. At least he has the advantage of playing first up. This is not usually a preferred time slot, but the conditions will be nice and cool.

Gurney has won five of his last ten matches and that is the problem His 2025 win rate is just 47% and he finds stringing good performances together difficult.

Wattimena has won seven of his last ten matches and has a win rate of 63%. He saw off a disappointing Jonny Clayton last night and he is in decent form, if not quite box office material.

Their H2H record 8-4 to Gurney but the market has Wattimena as the 1.67 favourite, and given their respective form, that is hard to argue with. No bet.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet

Danny Noppert vs. Josh Rock

Noppert will have been very relieved to finally get back to winning ways on the Euro Tour. He just about got past Niko Springer 6-5 in a good match. He has won seven of his last ten matches and while he is not at the top of his game, he is a very consistent player who score well. With that important win under his belt, he might just kick on.

Josh Rock beat Ratajski again, 6-4 this week. It was a 105 average for Rock and even with that kind of scoring, it was hard work. This match will be more of the same.

Rock was sweating like a pig after his match yesterday and I am worried about how he will cope with another hot day. Being second up helps, but while he was runner up here in 2023, the fact that he has put on a stone or two is not helping with his fitness.

Rock is in top form, banging in ton plus averages for fun and he will take some stopping, if he doesn’t run out of steam, as he did last weekend.

Their H2H record is 2-1 to Noppert, but it was Rock who won their only match in 2025, a 6-3 win a couple of weeks ago.

Rock is the 1.53 favourite, which is too short for my liking, but hopefully he can make it through.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet

Kevin Doets vs. Martin Schindler

Doets only averaged 85.51 last night, but that was enough to beat Aspinall 6-2. Strange. He has won six of his last ten matches but remains one of the most overrated players around. Yes, he gets the job done most of the time, but he is not a heavy scorer and that makes him vulnerable to a heavy scorer. His 2025 average is just over 90 and that shouldn’t be enough to get him the 65% win rate that he has. Effective is a good description.

Schindler, on the other hand, is a power scorer. He hits big numbers to break his opponents down. If his scoring is off, he struggles. He beat Matthew Dennant 6-3 yesterday, averaging 99.36. He has won seven of his last ten matches, including a 6-5 win over Doets twelve days ago.

Schindler is 5-2 against Doets and they have met four times in 2025 with Schindler winning three, the last two both 6-5. We are on Schindler outright and I am not really interested in backing him at 1.57 to win this.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet

Chris Dobey vs. Wessel Nijman

This should be good. Nijman won a very good match with Mike De Decker yesterday, with both players averaging over a ton. It could have gone either way, but sadly it went the wrong way for our bet on De Decker to win.

Chris Dobey just did a job on Pietreczko, averaging 105 in a 6-1 victory. It was his sixth ton plus average in a row and he is in top form. He was one of the few players who didn’t seem to be too bothered by the hot conditions, which might serve him well today.

Their H2H record is 2-2 and in 2025 1-1. Those matches produced a total of 29 maximums at a rate of 0.70 per leg. Three of their four matches have been over 9.5 legs and hopefully we get another close match of high quality.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Livescorebet
2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point over 6.5 180s @ 1.91 with Boylesports

Matt Campbell vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode

Campbell was able to raise his game against Bunting last night (again). He averaged 102 in a 6-4 win over a player averaging 104. He has that in his locker but just doesn’t bring it out often enough. He may need to be even better today.

Dirk van Duijvenbode is on fire. The winning post is not quite yet in sight, so he should be clear to play well this afternoon. He averaged 106 in his first round win over György Jehirszki and was even better against Gian van Veen yesterday, averaging 108.

Dirk is 3-0 against Campbell but they haven’t met since 2023. Campbell has only reached the last sixteen stage twice on the Euro Tour and lost both, one of them was a 3-6 loss to Van Duijvenbode. Something similar would be no surprise.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 0.5 point Dirk van Duijvenbode to win 6-3 @ 5.50 generally available

Peter Wright vs. Ross Smith

Wright was not great in his 6-3 win over Luke Woodhouse, but he was good enough to land our handicap bet. Hopefully he will play as poorly today and we can get Smudger into the evening session for a bit of post supper entertainment.

Smith averaged 100 in a 6-1 win over Chris Landman. It wasn’t much of a match but Smith just got on with it and played well. We are getting used to Smith going deep on the Euro Tour and hopefully he can do so again today.

Their H2H record is 7-3 to Wright but they have not played each other since 2022, which is surprising.

Smith is the 1.62 favourite, but I’ll take him on the handicap.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point Ross Smith to win -1.5 legs @ 2.20 with Betfair

Damon Heta vs. Joe Cullen

The GOAT hit new heights in his 6-2 win over Tricole yesterday. A four minute, 40 dart leg was the highlight of an otherwise very dull match. He will now try and do something that he has not done since mid-March and win back to back matches.

Heta has not been stringing wins together on the Euro Tour in 2025, and yesterday’s 6-5 win over Karel Sedlacek was only his third win in Europe this season. He is winning plenty of matches, just not on the Euro Tour. He still looks opposable to me, but with Cullen?

Their H2H record is 6-5 to Cullen but they have not met since 2023. Heta is the 1.53 favourite and this is an easy match to pass over. No bet.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet

Dave Chisnall vs. Ryan Joyce

Joyce got his scoring boots on against Ryan Searle yesterday, averaging 102 in a 6-1 win. Chizzy beat Ian White 6-3 in a very forgettable match.

Joyce is in much better form and getting used to playing well on the Euro Tour. Chisnall is a Euro Tour specialist but he just is not in great form in 2025.

Their H2H record is 6-5 to Joyce and he has won their last three in a row, all 6-5. Hopefully he can win again. Six of their matches have required a deciding leg and of their eight best of eleven leg matches, six have been over 9.5 legs.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 generally available
