2025 Baltic Sea Darts R2 Preview & Tips

James Punt’s 2025 Baltic Sea Darts R2 preview and tips are below. He landed three winners from four best yesterday evening, fingers crossed the Punt Express keeps on rolling.

Ryan Searle vs. Cameron Menzies

Menzies had to put in a good performance to beat the local qualifier 6-5. He was on track for a nine darter not once, but twice, and a 100 average meant it was a case of alas poor Yorick and Menzies nicked the match.

It was a bit of a surprise performance from Menzies who came into this event not in great form. He has won six of his last ten matches, but yesterday was his first ton plus average since April and he had been putting in more sub-90s than high 90s of late. Was yesterday a flash in the pan, or signs of a return to form?

Ryan Searle is not in good form. He has lost five of his last ten matches, but he has hit two 108 averages and a 105. However, there were also three sub-90s and three 91s. You really do not know what you are going to get from Searle right now. That is reflected in his Euro Tour form, losing half of his opening matches this season.

Searle is the 1.80 favourite and being backed, Menzies 2.10. Two players who are in inconsistent form doesn’t make for a great betting opportunity. Searle has won their previous three matches and won them easily. That would account for him being backed, but I will sit this one out.

Damon Heta vs. Wessel Nijman

Nijman was less than impressive in his 6-3 win over Martin Kramer. It was an 84 average, though it could just be that it was a poor match and he didn’t need to do any more than that. He has won seven of his last ten matches and hit four ton plus averages, but he is not overly consistent.

Heta is in good form. He was runner up in ET8 and after that a semi-finalist in PC17, a quarter finalist in PC 19, a World Series semi-finalist, and won PC20 on Tuesday. He is playing with excellent consistency and is in the form of his life.

Their H2H record is 2-2 but quite strange. Heta’s two wins were a 6-0 last year and a 6-1, just a couple of months ago. They met in ET3 earlier this year and Nijman won that 6-2. Their only close match was in a Players Championship semi-final last year which Nijman won 7-5.

I will go with the consistency of Heta to prevail.

2025 Baltic Sea Darts R2 Tip: 1 point Damon Heta to win @ 1.80 with BET365

Gary Anderson vs. Krzysztof Ratajski

Ratajski may have missed out on qualifying for the Matchplay by a whisker, but he has won seven of his last ten matches, including a 6-2 win over Richard Veenstra yesterday. He is hitting a lot of mid and high 90 averages and doing so consistently. Anderson will need to beat him and not expect Ratajski to have an off day.

Anderson has lost seven of his last ten matches and he has hit everything from an 86.5 to a 105.14. Consistency is not his thing right now and he is hard to call.

Their H2H record is a convincing 5-1 to Anderson and he has won their last five and two in 2025. Both matches in 2025 ended 6-5.

Danny Noppert vs. Mike de Decker

De Decker put in a solid 95.65 average and a 6-2 win over Mensur Suljovic last night, his sixth win in his last ten matches. It must be said that he has not been stringing too many wins together recently, due to his inconsistency, but when he is good, he is very good.

Danny Noppert is doing his usual thing. Winning six of his last ten matches and reaching a lot of quarter and semi-finals but rarely winning a title. He is a bit like De Decker, not a prolific winner of titles but a winner of plenty of money.

De Decker is the explosive player, his A game is better and is on display more often. Noppert just plays steady darts, is hard to beat, but eventually finds someone better than him.

Their H2H record is 6-3 to De Decker and he won their only match in 2025 6-1 in June. They last met on the Euro Tour last year and De Decker won that 6-0.

The market is finding them hard to split, with De Decker 1.91 and Noppert 2.00.

Noppert has only won four of his last fifteen matches on the Euro Tour and maybe it is De Decker who looks forward to these events more than Noppert.

2025 Baltic Sea Darts R2 Tip: 1 point Mike De Decker to win @ 1.91 with Betfred, Hills, Livescorebet

Dave Chisnall vs. Daryl Gurney

Gurney beat Martin Lukeman 6-4 last night, averaging 97.99. He has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing well enough, just not against Damon Heta who accounted for two of his losses, the other was to Gerwyn Price (who he plays in round 1 of the Matchplay next weekend).

Chizzy has lost 3.5 off his seasonal average in the last two years. It is now down to 92.59, which is OK, but he has dropped back from the top level. He has won six of his last ten matches and there is a nice bit of symmetry between the two players’ recent form. Both have beaten Lukeman 6-4 and lost 1-6 to Gerwyn Price in their last two matches.

Their H2H record is 11-10 to Chisnall and they are very closely matched in terms of their form. Gurney is the 1.80 favourite, Chisnall 2.10. Of their last five best of eleven matches, four have been over 9.5 legs.

Ross Smith vs. Kim Huybrechts

Huybrechts won a low-quality contest with Ian White last night, averaging 89.60. He has won six of his last ten matches and has played better than he did last night. He is no push over.

Ross Smith has won seven of his last ten matches and he is a heavier scorer than Huybrechts with a seasonal average some five points ahead of Huybrechts.

Their H2H record is 5-5 but they have only played once in very nearly four years. That was a 6-5 win for Smith last February.

Ross Smith is the 1.37 favourite, Huybrechts 3.25.

Smith has won seven of his eight second round matches, half of them 6-2, and seven of them ended under 9.5 legs.

Jonny Clayton vs. Gian van Veen

Jonny Clayton has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing well, even in defeat. He is hitting a lot of big averages and is hard to beat.

Van Veen was very good against Johan Engstrom yesterday, averaging 102.48 in a 6-0 win. His 12-month average is now 97.11 and only six players are better than that. He is an elite level player but hasn’t yet got the title winning habit. He has won seven of his last ten matches and this looks like it could be a corker.

Their H2H record is 1-1, both played in 2023 and both went over 9.5 legs.

2025 Baltic Sea Darts R2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Boylesports, Hills

James Wade vs. Luke Woodhouse

Wade is in great form, winning eight of his last ten matches and he won his first title since 2022 when picking up the PC19 title last month. He did hit three sub 90 averages after he won that title but was back hitting big numbers on Wednesday.

Woodhouse beat Liam Maendl-Lawrance 6-2 yesterday. The German missed a few chances, and it wasn’t a great performance from Woodhouse, who has lost six of his last ten matches but is putting in some good performances, just not with any consistency.

Their H2H record is 3-1 to Wade, but they have not played since 2023 and Woodhouse has improved since then.

Wade is the 1.54 favourite, Woodhouse 2.63. I can’t argue with those odds. No bet.
