2026 PL Darts Night 10 Preview

It was another tough night for James Punt last week but surely, his luck has to turn at some stage. His 2026 PL Darts Night 10 preview and tips are below.

Night 9 Reflections

It was another poor night last week. MVG averaged 104 and lost to a player averaging nearly ten points less. Price and Humphries both averaged over a ton but still produced a one-sided match.

Luke littler lost to Van Veen and we ended with three losers to take this year’s PL tally to -8.99. That will take some fixing. We are off to the smallest venue in the PL, the Brighton Centre on England’s south coast.

There are seven nights left, including this one, and a few players will be getting a bit toey. Josh Rock has won back-to-back quarter finals, but he needs to win finals, probably three of them. Luke Humphries is mindful that he is now in 6th place and after two winless weeks, he needs to start adding points.

Jonny Clayton has gone winless for the last three weeks and having topped the table by a wide margin, he has dropped to third and he needs to arrest the slide.

Luke Humphries vs. Jonny Clayton

Two players having a dry spell and that is going to continue for one of them. Clayton is still six points clear of fourth place and still well placed to make the playoffs, but Humphries could drop to 7th place with a loss.

Humphries didn’t travel to Munich for the Euro Tour event at the weekend. He won the Belgian Darts Trophy before that, which means he can skip the Euro Tour events as an when he wants to. He also won a Players Championship event earlier in the year, and he doesn’t play in them either.

It is all very well playing a light schedule, but he is now in a position were he is only playing on a Thursday night. He has played two matches in the last two weeks and lost both.

Quarter Finalist

Clayton did travel to Germany, to a tournament where he had a poor record in, but he managed to reach the quarter final. However, his form is all over the place.

On the Euro Tour at the weekend he hit a 104.78 in a 6-4 win over Kim Huybrechts, and followed it up with a 89.65 in a 1-6 loss to Danny Noppert in this following match. In his last ten matches, he has hit three ton plus averages and three sub 90s.

We have here two players who need a win. One is very light on matches played, the other playing plenty, but with no consistency. These two have now played each other four times in 2026 with two wins each, Humphries winning the last two. Overall, Clayton is 9-7 with Humphries.

Doubles Key

This could well come down to how well Humphries gets on with the doubles. Half of his last ten matches have seen 33% or lower checkout rates and that makes him vulnerable. Humphries is the 1.50 favourite, Clayton 2.75.

Clayton has never lost more than tree PL matches in a row and he has two chances of winning tonight. Either Humphries gifts him another win thanks to poor doubling, or ‘Good’ Jonny turns up and wins on merit.

Gerwyn Price vs. Josh Rock

Two players who will be feeling better about things. Rock ended his seven-night losing run two weeks ago and has picked up back to back quarter final wins. He is still bottom of the table but at least his has some self-respect back.

Rock is still playing a busy schedule and went to Munich last weekend but only won one match and he has lost six of his last ten.

Gerwyn Price has picked up ten points in the last three weeks. He has won on the Euro Tour, won a Players Championship and is now just playing PL matches, but at least he is playing plenty of them.

The Iceman has won seven of his last ten matches and last week he had three 6-2 wins, and three ton plus averages, to win the night. He was very nearly unplayable.

Their H2H record is 7-4 to Price and he has won their last three. They have only played once in the PL and that was a 6-0 win. Rock was still winless at that stage and his head was down before a dart was thrown. He will be more positive this time, but Price is in better form and is the 1.44 favourite.

Luke Littler vs. Stephen Bunting

It will be interesting to see what kind of reception Luke Littler gets after his poor sportsmanship last week. Trying to get the crowd on his opponent’s back is not on, but he lost the match to Van Veen, so he got his comeuppance. However, he is making a habit of making himself look bad, and crowds don’t like wanky players, no matter how good they are.

Bunting has only won five of his thirteen PL matches but he has been putting in some stonking performances and losing. Last week he averaged 106.66 against Price and lost 2-6. The last time he played Littler, Bunting averaged 107.47 and lost 3-6. In fact, that is back to back 3-6 defeats by Littler when Bunting has fired in ton plus averages.

Littler is 10-4 against Bunting overall and in the PL 6-1. Littler is the 1.25 favourite, Bunting 4.50. Three of their seven PL matches have ended 6-3 to Littler.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Gian van Veen

It is hard to know what to make of MVG’s form. He has lost his last three matches, one to Merv King, last week’s defeat by Bunting, and he was given a spanking by Niko Springer on the Euro Tour at the weekend. That was in a tournament where he had a phenomenal record, and he won just one leg.

He just looks a bit lost. Still hitting some big scores but never looking that convincing. Maybe there is something away from darts which is vexing him?

Van Veen looked back to full fitness when reaching the final last weekend. His problem is that he has reached four finals and lost them all. He went out early in Munich at the weekend and even allowing for his recent health problems, six of his last ten matches have seen sub 93 averages and that isn’t enough at this level. He has lost seven of his last ten and he is not in good form.

Their H2H record is 7-4 to MVG and he won their only match in this year’s PL 6-4. Two of their last three best of eleven leg matches have been 6-4 wins for MVG and I will have a small bet on another. It is a hard match to feel confident about either player, to be honest.
