2026 Canadian GP Sprint Qualifying
There is very little interest being shown by the bookmakers for this Sprint qualifying. Not many markets on offer (as of one hour before the sessions starts).
The FP1 session was hit by no less than three red flags, which made it a bit messy, but there was no denying that the two Mercedes were comfortably faster than the rest of the field.
Antonelli was the fastest and Russell will now be worried. This is a track he was supposed to boss, but he was over a tenth off his young teammate.
Antonelli is the 2.30 favourite, Russell 2.80. There isn’t a lot of value there.
One Bet
Outside of the two-man battle for Sprint pole position, there is only one bet that has got my attention. We have backed Hulkenberg for a points finish on Sunday @ 5.00, and he is the same price to make Q3 in the Sprint qualifying.
Hulkenberg was 9th quickest in FP1, and in the first two Sprint qualifiers in 2026 he has finished 11th and 12th. In China he was 9th in FP1, but 11th in Sprint qualifying. He missed out on making Q3 there by 0.015 seconds.
His likely competitors for a Q3 place are Hadjar, Gasly and maybe a Haas driver. The Alpines didn’t look great in FP1, the Haas’ drivers even worse, while Hadjar was 12th. Hadjar has made Q3 in both Sprint qualifiers so far, just, and should be able to rally himself again.
Hulkenberg is a 5.00 shot to make Q3 and that looks a value bet to me. He will probably end up 11th, again, but he is never a 5.00 shot.
2026 Canadian GP Sprint Qualifying Tip: 1 point Nico Hulkenberg to reach Q3 @ 5.00 with Betfred
