2026 World Grand Prix Final Preview

It has been a decent week and hopefully we can finish it with a winner. Check out James Punt’s 2026 World Grand Prix Final preview and tips below.

Semi Final Reflections

It wasn’t to be for James Wade last night and he joins the long list of my semi-final losers. Overall, we go into the final night on +2.14 points. It would be nice to add to that and take the sting out of the outright bets drawing a blank.

We have a final between the number 2 and number 4 seeds, so the formbook has been proven right again. It is a big opportunity for both players. Price is looking for his first major title for very nearly five years. Humphries is playing in his fourth consecutive Grand Prix final, having won it in 2023 and been runner up for the last two years. Price has also played in three Grand Prix finals, winning one in 2020.

Luke Humphries vs. Gerwyn Price

Price has been the more consistent performer so far, with a tournament average of 93.56, compared to 89.32 for Humphries. Price has lost four sets, to Humphries’ three. Price survived match darts against him in the quarter final, Humphries has never been behind in any match.

Their H2H record is very close at 17-16 to Price. They have played seven times in 2026, Humphries winning four, including their last two. They have only ever played each other in three TV majors, Humphries winning two, including the World Grand Prix final in 2023. That was a five sets to two result, and their only ever final.

Humphries has played in fourteen ranking major finals and won seven. Price has played in thirteen and won five.

Last Ten Finals

Looking at the last ten finals and the one thing that stands out is the lack of close matches. The only one that went to a deciding set was when Gurney beat Whitlock 5-4 in 2017. The next closest final was the 6-4 win for De Decker against Humphries in 2024.

Of the past ten finals (it was best of nine sets until 2024) we have had 5-2 x5, a 5-1, a 5-3 a 5-4, 6-4 and 6-1. The last ton plus average in a final was by MVG back in 2026. Most of the finals have been one sided and a bit dull.

For tonight’s final, Luke Humphries is the 1.73 favourite, Price 2.10 and I cannot see any value in either player. Looking at the 180s market and I have it around 18-19 in total. The market has over 18.5 at 1.91 and under 18.5 at 1.91. No value there either.

Correct Score

Correct score betting tends to be profitable in the first round, but increasingly less so in the longer matches. Total sets market has under 9.5 at 1.73 and over 9.5 at 2.10. The general trend would suggest unders is the bet, but again, the odds look about right.

I am inclined not to bother having a bet on the match, but that would be a boring way to end the week. I do think Humphries is the deserved favourite to win and most past finals have ended up as pretty one-sided affairs. Price has lost his last two Grand Prix finals 1-5 and 2-5, one of them to Humphries. Humphries to win on the handicap?

2026 World Grand Prix Final Tip: 1 point Luke Humphries to win -1.5 sets @ 2.20 with Betfred, Hills

Next weekend’s darts is the Swiss Darts Trophy. I will be selecting a semi-final loser for that and doing some match betting in the early rounds, but we do have a clash with the Singapore GP so there will be nothing on Sunday.
