Friday Doncaster Racing Tips by Dave Stevos
We had a mixed day on Thursday at Doncaster. Keep Busy ran a nice race, but not nice enough for us to get a return on our each way bets. She didn’t get the best early position but she ran well and wasn’t that far away from the principals. Star Terms ran respectably but the trip may have stretched her stamina. At least Powerful Breeze got the job done, outstaying her rivals for a nice win. Advised at 10/1, she won at 11/2. The Leger Meeting continues tomorrow, check out Dave Stevos Friday Doncaster racing tips below…
Friday Doncaster Racing Tips: 2.10 Sceptre Stakes (Group 3)
A field of 14 fillies will go to post for this competitive looking 7f Group 3 heat. Regular readers may remember me tipping up Solar Gold a couple of weeks ago. She ran a cracker to finish 4th, just 2L behind the winner over 8f. She had every chance before fading in the last 50 yards and dropping back to 7f could really suit.
The quicker the ground the better for this daughter of Sea The Stars, whose sole win came on firm at Bath. The flat track at Doncaster should suit her and the form of her Listed 2nd to Forever In Dreams was boosted when that horse finished 2nd to Advertise in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup. That is among the best form in this race and a repeat of that would surely see her go close here. Solar Gold looks overpriced at 10/1 and she is the each way pick.

Doncaster Preview Friday: 2.40 – Mallard Handicap (Group 2)
Theglasgowwarrior is the one I like in this 14f handicap. I fancied him last weekend but he was a non runner due to the ground. He will get his optimum conditions on Friday and he has solid course form in the book. He was an excellent 3rd in this very race a year ago off 88 and he went on to run a blinder off the same rating in the Cesarewitch.
The Scottish challenger’s sole win this season came at Hamilton back in May off 89 (12f gd/fm) and he is now 1lb below that winning mark. He shaped really nicely at Ascot off 90 two runs back and heavy ground was no good for him last time. The return to this trip will suit and with Genetics in the field there should be an honest pace. This race has probably been on Jim Goldie’s mind for some time and at odds of 8/1 Theglasgowwarrior should go very close.

Friday Doncaster Racing Tips: 3.15 – Doncaster Stakes (Group 2)
This is not a race that appeals from a punting perspective. Stradivarius most likely wins but at odds of 4/11 I will just watch and enjoy the show. No bet.
FRIDAY DONCASTER RACING TIPS: NO BET
Doncaster Racing Preview: 3.45 – Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2)
The feature race at Doncaster on Thursday is the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes. A field of eight juveniles will go to post and this 5f contest is more open than the betting suggests. A’Ali is a short price favourite and he has the best form. However, all his form has come on easy ground and good to firm is a complete unknown. His Kodiac half brother won on firm, which offers hope, but at around 11/10 he is too short.
Alligator Alley is next best in the betting and his form behind Liberty Beach is rock solid. He since won a Listed heat at York (5f gd/fm) and he is now 2/2 on good to firm ground. He is a best price of 15/8 and he could go off shorter.
At a huge price, Seize The Time could bounce back returned to quick ground. She won on debut on good to firm at Beverley, a race that has produced winners. Karl Burke stepped her straight into Listed company next time but good to soft ground didn’t suit. By Siyouni, this filly is bred to appreciate rattling quick ground and the booking of Ryan Moore is eye catching. At odds of 28/1 she looks a lively outsider and Seize The Time is the each way selection.
