RWC Day 2 Tips and Preview
The Rugby World Cup got underway in Tokyo on Friday morning. The hosts Japan made a winning start, defeating a plucky Russian side 30-10. However, Day 2 at the Rugby World Cup should be a lot more exciting. Some of the big guns are in action, including Australia, France and the big two, New Zealand and South Africa. Dave Stevos has briefly previewed all three matches, check out his RWC Day 2 tips below…
RWC TIPS: 05.45 am Pool D: Australia vs Fiji
Fiji are a nation that has produced some superb players over the years. The Fijians caused a massive upset when beating Wales in a thriller in 2007. However, in 2011 and 2015 they only won 2 pool games, losing the other 6, and their glory days are fast becoming a distant memory. Australia won 37-14 the last time these two teams met in 2017.
The Wallabies also won comfortably when these teams met at the 2015 RWC. Fiji will rely heavily on their world class lock Nakarawa. The Racing man was named European Player of the Year in 2018. However, the Aussies have the likes of Pocock, Hooper and Beale and they will look to maintain a 65 year unbeaten record vs Fiji. We think they can cover the 14 point spread on offer from Betway and a bet on Australia -14 is advised at 1/1.

RWC Day 2 Tips: 08.15 am Pool C: France v Argentina
This match should be a proper contest between two decent sides. France are slowly improving and while they are not the force of old, they are still capable of producing good rugby. They won 2 of their 5 matches in the 6 Nations, beating Italy and Scotland. The French pushed Wales all the way in Paris, losing 24-19. They warmed up with wins against Italy and Scotland (x2) and they beat Argentina 28-13 in 2018.
The Pumas are always capable of pulling off an upset. Their Rugby Championship campaign was not successful, but they were competitive against both New Zealand and Australia. The French are edging favouritism at around 4/5, with Argentina priced up at 5/4 with a couple of firms. This has the look of a really close game and a small interest on the draw is advised at odds of 22/1.

10.45am Pool B: New Zealand v South Africa
This is a match worthy of being the final. Two teams with serious hopes of going all the way clash in this Pool B opener. The All Blacks have won the last two RWCs and are the favourites for 2019. However, the South African Springboks made a big statement by winning the Rugby Championship. The South Africans have become a world class outfit in the past year and they are fancied by many (including us) to go all the way.
South Africa drew 16-16 with New Zealand the last time they met in July. In 2018 it was 1-1, with a win apiece. In both matches the winning margin was only 2 points so chances are this will be a similarly tight affair. That is not reflected in the prices though, with New Zealand odds on at ½ and South Africa chalked up at over 2/1. That is far too big a price and from a value perspective, South Africa are worth backing at odds of 27/11 with MoPlay.
