Netherlands vs Austria Match Preview

Netherlands are all but through to the knockout stages after beating Poland and fighting out a tough 0-0 draw with France.

The Netherlands have won their last seven meetings against Austria, which will play on both teams’ minds. Although the Dutch drew 0-0 with France (one of the favourites), I felt they offered very little in the match but defended very well.

I actually thought Austria played a better game against the French and although the Dutch are rated a better team, for me Austria are one of the tournament dark horses.

I wouldn’t dream of backing the Netherlands at as short 2.26 for this match. I do think Holland defend well so I will favour the Under 2.5 Goals of the close betting choices. Both teams would be reasonably happy with a point each and no injuries.

The price on France to win at 1.31 is too short. they probably will win, but they will coast through this match trying not to pick up any injuries. It looks highly unlikely that Kylian Mbappe will be involved.

Poland are out of the tournament after losing their first 2 matches. They were unlucky to find themselves in a tough group. I am unsure how the teams will line up with possible fresh players getting a run out.

England vs Slovenia Match Preview

So far England have played slow and uninspiring football. They just about scraped home against Serbia and then played second fiddle to Denmark for most of that match.

The all-powerful English media have been calling for changes and hopefully Southgate will make a few. Slovenia are a steady, decent team and if England carry on playing to the low level they have been so far, there is no reason they can’t cause an upset.

On my ratings England are clear by 1.75 goals but they just haven’t lived up to the standards their qualification form suggested.

Head to Heads are 5 Wins and 1 Draw to England from six previous meetings. Last 2 matches were in World Cup Qualifiers in 2016-17 where the scores were 1-0 & 0-0.

Denmark vs Serbia Match Preview

This match is hard to call as both teams have had similar outcomes to their opening two matches. My ratings make Denmark 0.15 favourites, which is similar to the Asian line.

All 4 games in Group C have been very close with 3 matches being draws. In this match, both teams need to win, so I expect a very cagey first half and if still level after 60 minutes, the drama will begin with both teams going for the win.

Denmark could gamble that a draw will probably take them through but surely, they cannot rely on that scenario. 1-1 seems to be the flavour of this group and this match looks set to be as close as all the others.
