Georgia vs Czechia Match Preview

With both teams defeated in their opening game, it makes this another MUST WIN match.

Georgia deservedly lost to Turkey and will have been hoping for a better performance. They did have 48% possession so they at least held the ball well. They have to win and then hope Portugal rest a few players in the last match to give them a chance of qualifying.

Czechia were heading for a valuable point going into injury time against the Group favourites Portugal and were beaten by a 92nd minute goal. Looking at the stats, the Czechs had only 1 shot on target, lost 13-0 on corners and they had only 30% possession. My Ratings have the Czechs 0.35 favourites which means the value lies with Georgia.

On the total goals line, Georgia have gone over 2.5 in their last 2 matches whereas the Czech Republic have gone over 2.5 in their last 6 matches.

Turkey vs Portugal Match Preview

Turkey will be happy with collecting 3 points from their opening match but they face a much tougher test against the group favourites now. The 3-1 win against Georgia may have slightly flattered the Turks but they took their chances. 52-48 possession against Georgia doesn’t make good reading, especially when you see Portugal had 70% possession against the Czech Republic.

Portugal are one of the favourites for the tournament and should have full control of this match up. They will want to get this game wrapped up early. A win here and they will be able to rest some of their older players for the final match.

Belgium vs Romania Match Preview

Belgium were comfortable favourites for this Group before their surprise defeat against Slovakia. Maybe Belgium can feel a little aggrieved at 2 VAR decisions going against them. They may well be looking back on the match and thinking it was just one of those days.

The betting line of 1.25 suggests that the linemakers still have faith in Belgium to qualify from this group. My ratings make Belgium 1.50 favourites, so I feel the line is right.

Romania must be on cloud nine after their surprise thrashing of Ukraine. Their last 4 matches before that win were very unimpressive. Romania only had 34% possession against the Ukrainians so that also makes the 3-0 win even more amazing.

As much as the odds for Romania look tempting, I’m afraid I can’t see another surprise. For me, it’s just a question of how many Belgium win by.
