Friday Afternoon Belgian Darts Open Tips

Fancy having an outright bet? You can see James Punt’s main preview here. Now, it is time for his thoughts on the Friday Afternoon Belgian Darts Open matches.

Gian van Veen vs. Ryan Meikle

While Van Veen has shown some good form in the players championships events he has played in, averaging 93.8 in his five matches, it is Meikle who is the more experienced player, and he reached the quarter final in ET11 last time out. He has played in four ET events in 2022 and won three of his first round matches. The one he lost saw him average 98 and taking four legs off Dave Chisnall.

Friday Afternoon Belgian Darts Open Tip: 1 point Ryan Meikle to win -1.5 legs @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes

Karel Sedlacek vs. Roberto Vandaele

The Bank of Evil Charlie has been kind to us this season and it may well be paying out again today. He faces local qualifier Roberto Vandaele who won his four qualifiers with an average of 79.1. He will be feeling good about things, but this is another step up in class.

Sedlacek has done well enough in this year’s ET to be comfortably in the finals already and he is free rolling, looking to add to his ranking money. The crowd, however large or small that is today, will be backing the Belgian, but Sedlacek is a very cool customer. He almost doesn’t seem to have a pulse and won’t be easily distracted.

Friday Afternoon Belgian Darts Open Tip: 1 point Karel Sedlacek to win -3.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betfred

Boris Krčmar vs. Cameron Menzies

Two players who are having decent seasons. Boris has won all three of his opening ET matches in 2022 and reached a quarter final. Menzies has also won all three of his ET first round matches in 2022.

Both players have good A games, both can hit big numbers and while this should be a good match to watch, it is hard to pick the winner with any great confidence. Their seasonal averages are nearly identical but they have never met before so there is no H2H record to guide us. A long match perhaps? That is my gut feeling, but I’ll sit this one out.

Friday Afternoon Belgian Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Niels Zonneveld vs. Alan Soutar

The money is going down on Zonneveld and I can see why. Soutar is having a difficult second season as a tour card holder with his seasonal average dropping below 91, a little lower than Zonneveld’s 91.5, but they are very close. They have both won six of their last ten matches but have yet to meet.

Zonneveld has lost his three ET matches in 2022, but he has played well in all three, averaging at least 94 in all three and losing two 5-6. Soutar has won two of his three ET first round matches but failed to average above 90 in any. Zonneveld is a good young player and lacks consistency, but he can beat a player like Soutar. This is bit of a coin toss, and the value was with Zonneveld. Any value has gone, however, as Zonneveld is now just 2.05 to win. No bet.
