Friday Afternoon World Cup of Darts Preview – JP
Friday Afternoon World Cup Darts Preview and Tips
We had to make do with one winner last night, Ireland to win 4-1. James Punt has just one bet for today, his Friday Afternoon World Cup Of Darts tip is below.
Poor Betting Event
I had forgotten what a poor betting medium The World Cup of Darts is. Mixed ability darts played over an ultra-short format is fun to watch, but not great to bet on. It may get better when we get to the better teams in a longer format, but for now my interest will be very limited, especially with the more important business of the Canadian GP and US Open golf.
Of this afternoons matches only one makes any great appeal.
Switzerland vs. Sweden
Switzerland played last night averaging 76.66 in a 3-4 defeat to Italy. Both teams were poor, they hit the 4th and 5th lowest averages of the night. No surprise it was close.
Sweden have two competent players, no more than that. Nilsson is experienced in this event and has played enough big stage matches to know what to expect, which can’t be said for the other three players involved. His teammate, Oskar Lukasiak, averages 82.6 and on the Nordic and Baltic tour he has reached five quarter finals but lost the lot.
We have backed Sweden to win the group, so there is no need to get involved, but I am not sure why Switzerland are odds on favourites. Somebody has to be I suppose.
Bellmont is Switzerland’s main man and he averages 87.5. His teammate, Marcel Walpen, averages 81.1. He has been doing well on the WDF circuit, not so well at PDC Challenge Tour level.
The two teams look well matched but this is Switzerland’s last roll of the dice. They MUST win to have any chance of progressing. They only lost by a single leg last night so a win here and then would then need Sweden to beat Italy, which is entirely possible. But they have lost already. There is more pressure on them to perform, and perform against a man who looks like he could crush you with one hand.
