Friday Newmarket Racing Tips and Preview ITV4 Races
Preview of All ITV4 Live Races At Newmarket
Last weekend was an absolute disaster. None of our selections ran well, in fact most of them ran absolute shockers. Sometimes things just don’t go to plan, especially in racing! All you can do is dust yourself down and try again. It is Cambridgeshire Weekend at Newmarket and the ITV4 cameras will be there on Friday. The four live races on Friday at the Cambridgeshire meeting are all quality contests. You can check out Dave Stevos’ Friday Newmarket racing tips for all live ITV4 races below.
Friday Newmarket Racing Tips: 1.50 Tasleet Rosemary Stakes (Listed)
First up on Friday at Newmarket are the fillies and mares in the Listed Rosemary Stakes. A field of 13 will line up in the stalls and Maqsad is the favourite at around 5/2. Trained by William Haggas, Jim Crowley will ride this 3yo daughter of Siyouni. She is top rated with a mark of 107 and she is well treated by the conditions of the race. She won the Listed Pretty Polly over course and distance back in May but she found G1 company too hot the last twice. Once those runs haven’t had an adverse effect on her confidence, she should go close back down in class.
One horse that looks potentially overpriced is Sh Boom for Peter Chapple Hyam. This 95 rated filly was never put into the race last time at Yarmouth and that run is best ignored. On her previous start in a G3 at Sandown (8f gd/fm) she shaped really nicely in 5th behind Lavender’s Blue. Exhort was 2L behind her that day and Sh Boom is a pound better off here and is over twice the price of that rival. Back down in trip and returned to the scene of her Novice victory, this previous course and distance winner could outrun her odds of 33/1.

Newmarket Preview Friday: 2.25 – Princess Royal Muhaarar Stakes (Group 3)
Another one for the girls, this 12f Group 3 has attracted a field of 9 fillies and mares. Promissory is a warm order for Dettori and Gosden and she holds serious form claims. Her 2nd to Ron Priestly last time received a huge boost in the Leger and the drop back to 12f will suit. The daughter of Dubawi has a top class middle distance pedigree and 3yos have won 7 of the last 8 renewals. She looks a worthy favourite and she is the one to beat.
Another 3yo that may give each way backers a run for their money is Blue Gardenia. This daughter of Mastercraftsman has less than 3L to find with Promissory on their form behind Sir Ron Priestly. Blue Gardenia wasn’t disgraced in a 12f Listed heat at Longchamp last time and she should appreciate the return to Newmarket. She won an 8f Listed heat on soft here last November so any showers that fall will be welcome. She handles decent ground too though and at odds of 20/1 she looks well worth chancing each way.

Friday Newmarket Racing Tips: 3.00 – Rockfel Stakes (Group 2)
This is another fillies race, this time for 2yos and Albany winner Daahyeh is the favourite for Charlton and Buick. This daughter of Bated Breath has finished 2nd on her 2 starts since winning at Royal Ascot. Her best run yet came last time at the Curragh when just under 1L behind Love in the G1 Moyglare. Under The Stars was just over 1L behind Daahyeh in 5th that day so on that form she looks overpriced at 7/1.
Nurse Barbara was strongly fancied to win a Listed heat last time at Leopardstown but Blissful spoiled the party. Aidan O’Brien’s daughter of Galileo snatched victory in the dying strides by a nose, her 2nd successive win by that margin. She was 2L down well inside the final furlong but she never gave up and got her reward. The way she finished that day suggested a stiff finish like the one on the Rowley course at Newmarket would really suit. She needs to progress again on all known form but she easily could and at odds of 8/1 Blissful is the each way NAP of the day.

Newmarket Racing Preview: 3.35 – Shadwell Joel Stakes (Group 2)
The 8f Joel Stakes may be a Group 2, but the market leader King Of Comedy brings top level form to the table. The 3yo son of Kingman has run very well in G1s the last twice, 2L behind Japan at York (10f) and a neck behind Circus Maximus at Ascot (8f). Those runs earned him a rating of 118 and only Benbatl is rated higher (123). That horse is having his first run for almost a year though and he may need it.
Happy Power has also got solid G1 form in the book. He was a good 4th to Too Darn Hot at Goodwood, beaten less than 2L. He ran another decent race when 3rd behind Duke Of Hazzard last time at the same track, a horse I rate highly. A stiff mile should really suit him on good ground and the son of Dark Angel cannot be discounted here. If King Of Comedy produces his best, he should win but at odds of 8/1 Happy Power looks overpriced and he is the each way pick.
