Fury vs Wilder III Preview and Betting Tip

So here we go again. The third instalment of Fury v Wilder takes place in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning and hopefully it is as dramatic as the first two stanzas. After a draw in the first bout and a Fury stoppage in the second, what is going to happen in Fury vs Wilder III? Will it be another Fury masterclass, or can Wilder ambush The Gypsy King with a big right hand? Our tipster Dave Stevos correctly predicted an Usyk points win vs Joshua, see what he fancies in this Heavyweight Championship bout below.

Tyson Fury

The Gypsy King has been the main man in the heavyweight division for some time now. After he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko in Germany in 2015 he had well documented problems with alcohol, cocaine and his mental health and he was inactive for almost three years. However, since his comeback in 2018, he has looked better than ever. He put in one of the best displays of his career when stopping Wilder in the 7th round in their last fight.

In the first fight Wilder all but knocked Fury out in the 12th. However, Fury rose from the canvas and in the closing minute or so the penny dropped with him regarding the best way to beat Wilder. Fury had used his boxing skills to keep Wilder at bay up until that point but after the heavy knockdown, he went on the attack. He soon discovered that Wilder really struggled when he was trying to fight off the back foot.

In the second fight, Fury took the centre of the ring and put huge pressure on Wilder from the first bell. Sugarhill Steward took over training duties and Fury came in 20 lbs heavier than he was in the first fight. It wasn’t long before the extra power began to pay dividends and Wilder was on the floor in the third and fifth rounds. His corner put him out of his misery in the 7th with blood pouring from his ear. Fury has reportedly put on even more muscle for this fight and that could be bad news for Wilder. Another stoppage victory could be on the cards.

Deontay Wilder

There is no doubt that Wilder has the one punch power to knock Fury out. However, will Deontay be able to detonate that devastating right hand? He has now faced two versions of Fury and he has failed to handle both. Yes, he knocked his rival down twice in the first fight but Fury got back up and even though that fight was called a draw, most people still had Fury winning comfortably on points. In fact, you could argue that in the 18 and a bit rounds that these two have fought, Wilder has only won two of them.

Wilder’s reaction after his loss last time was to blame everyone bar himself. First, the 45 lbs costume he wore for his walk on was at fault. He also claimed his water was spiked, he then sacked his trainer Mike Breland and then finally he said Fury cheated. The American is now trained by Malik Scott, a man he knocked out when they fought a few years ago.

Scott was a decent heavyweight and he has a good amateur pedigree but he is a novice when it comes to training. It is an odd decision by Wilder to take him on for a fight as huge as this one. Scott reckons he has found previously underused weapons in Wilder’s armoury and that will have to be true because if the same version of Wilder that turned up for the first and second fights shows up, there is only going to be one winner.

Fury vs Wilder III Prediction And Betting Tip

If you watched the first two fights, there is no way you could fancy Wilder in this. Fury was caught with a couple of big shots in the first bout but they didn’t knock him out and overall, The Gypsy King was utterly dominant apart from those knockdowns. The fact that Wilder can hurt Fury does add a bit of intrigue and he of course has a puncher’s chance. However, I can only see this fight going one way.

The fact that Fury is coming into this fight 20 lbs heavier than last time points to one thing. He is going to put it on Wilder from the outset again and he’ll be aiming for an early knockout. If Fury doesn’t get him out of there in the first few rounds, he still has the boxing IQ to cruise to a points decision win. However, I think he is going to stop him a little bit earlier than last time. Fury to win in rounds 4-6 is the recommended bet at odds of 9/2.

Helenius A Huge Price

Another interesting fight on  the undercard is Helenius v Kownacki. These two fought 18 months ago and Helenius won easily. Kownacki is a pressure fighter and his style was absolutely perfect for the Finnish counter puncher. Helenius took Kownacki’s best punches and they didn’t seem to have much of an effect. In the fourth round the Polish fighter began to tire and Helenius landed a three punch combo that put him on his back.

The ref missed those punches and it was ruled a slip. However, Helenius knew he had hurt his man and a 1-2 soon after put Kownacki down again. You could see he was badly hurt after he got back up and The Nordic Nightmare finished off the job with a flurry of powerful and accurate headshots. I see no reason why Kownacki should be odds on for the rematch and in fact, I would have Helenius as a heavy favourite. A repeat of their last fight could be on the cards and I am backing Helenius to win by KO/TKO/DQ at odds of 3/1.

Dave Stevos’ Fury vs Wilder III Tip: Fury by KO/TKO/Stoppage in rounds 4-6 @ 9/2
Dave Stevos’ Helenius v Kownacki II Tip: Helenius to win by KO/TKO/DQ @ 3/1

Kelly’s Knockout Tip

Our man Kelly was very unlucky with his selection for Joshua v Usyk. He predicted a late Usyk win by stoppage at 12/1 and in the 12th round it looked like he was going to finish him off. For Fury v Wilder III he is expecting a cagier fight than the last one. Kelly reckons that Wilder will be better prepared for Fury’s early attacks (if they come) and he thinks this is going to go the full distance.

He thinks that Fury is by far the more likely winner on points and that is his main recommended bet at odds of 29/10. However, given what happened the first time these heavyweights met, Kelly is also recommending a small saver on the draw at odds of 25/1. Best of luck with your bets and may the best man win!
