German Darts GP Saturday Preview
James made a solid start in Germany this afternoon. He landed two winners from his four tips and he is back in action tonight. You can see his German Darts GP Saturday evening tips below.
Daryl Gurney vs. Cameron Menzies
Superchin is 3-0 in the H2Hs and he has been playing well, but mainly away from the stage. He has lost his last two opening ET matches and he needs to get a win under his belt to finally get properly into the tournament.
Cameron Menzies has a 52% win rate in 2023 but he still packs a punch on his day. He doesn’t have quite the firepower of Gurney on a regular basis, but he is not without a chance.
Gurney has won all three of their previous matches but Menzies has got closer in each one with scores of 2-6, 3-6 and 4-6. Is a 5-6 coming?
Gurney is the 1.53 favourite with Menzies 2.50. Their last two matches have been very low quality affairs and this could be a bit of a grind as Superchin is clearly feeling a bit nervous on the stage right now, but he has the game to win.
German Darts GP Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Daryl Gurney to win 6-4 @ 7.50 with Ladbrokes
Simon Whitlock vs. Steve Beaton
Two of the over 50s club going H2H for the 21st time. Whitlock holds a 14-6 H2H record over Beaton but they haven’t played much in the last three years, just the three matches of which The Wizard won two, both 6-5. The Aussie has been having a lot of close matches recently and half of his last ten have required a deciding leg.
Steve Beaton rolled back the years in Kiel in ET1, reaching the quarter final. He is in reasonable form, winning six of his last ten matches.
It is hard to see either player running away with this, it could be a bit of a grind and a fairly long match looks a reasonable expectation.
German Darts GP Saturday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.00 with Fitzdares
Ross Smith vs. Florian Hempel
Hempel has lost seven of his last ten matches and averaged over 85 in just four. His win rate this season is just 32% and he is there for the taking, home crowd or not.
We have backed Smith outright, and one reason is that he landed a good draw with this first round opponent. Smudger has won seven of his last ten matches and he should win this and win it well. They have met three times, all in 2022 and Smith won all three, two 6-4 and the other 6-3.
I do not see it being that close this time round. Hempel has taken several steps back while Smith is now a major winner and a three time PDC title winner. Smith handed out a 6-0 thrashing in the first round of ET2 and it might worth throwing some lose change at another one.
German Darts GP Saturday Tip: 1 point Smith to win -2.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes
German Darts GP Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Smith to win 6-0 @ 21.00 with Unibet
Robert Owen vs. Liam Maendl-Lawrence
Owen has not played in a lot of Euro Tours, just six since 2016, and he has won just one first round match. He did go on to reach the quarter final, but since then it was three more first round defeats. He has lost six of his last ten matches and isn’t playing great.
We saw Liam playing last week when he made his Euro Tour debut and he beat another Welshman, Richie Burnett 6-4. He then lost 5-6 to Danny Noppert. Not a bad debut really.
German Darts GP Saturday Tip: 1 point Maendl-Lawrence to win @ 2.62 with Ladbrokes
Ian White vs. Raymond van Barneveld
Has Ian White’s comeback hit the buffers? After a very poor 18 months or so, suffering with gallstones, he was playing better, pain free and looking more like his old self. However, after a dramatic comeback to beat Gabriel Clemens in ET2 and averaging 98, White had a mare against Josh Rock, averaging 78.3 and losing 6-2. He returned to Germany last weekend and lost 4-6 to Jose Justicia and averaged 85. He missed 16 doubles across those two matches, and he looked in turmoil.
Barney just keeps on playing steady darts, winning six of his last ten matches. Not doing much of note but ticking over. He has won two of his three opening matches on the Euro Tour but hasn’t progressed any further.
Their H2H record is 8-8. Barney is the 1.64 favourite and if White continues to have double trouble, he can heap more woe onto White’s game.
