Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday Tips James Punt
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday Tips
We had a couple of nice winners yesterday, lets hope for more this afternoon. Check out James Punt’s Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday tips below.
Rob Cross vs. Ross Smith
Ross Smith got off to a flying start with a 6-0 win over a local qualifier, but it was the nature of the win that impressed. It is easy for the PDC players to take their foot off the gas against the qualifiers and cruise to a low average win. Not for Smith, he averaged a ton, had a 109 checkout and was 60% on the doubles. He also got a sighter of the venue and will be well set for this match.
Their H2H record is 4-2 to Cross but he won their first three between April 2018 and February 2019, but as Cross lost his best form, Smith has won two of the last three and those three have all be close matches, 6-5,6-5 and 8-10.
Rob Cross still hasn’t recovered his form but as Gary Anderson might say, he’s getting there. His season average is 96 with a win rate of 61%. He has his work cut out this afternoon as Smith looks to be back to his best after a recent lull.
Cross is the 1.73 favourite with Smith a popular choice at 2.20. I fancied Cross to have a decent run this weekend, but this is a tougher opening match and he had to be at his best (100 average) when beating Smith 10-8 at the World Matchplay six weeks ago. Smith has had a match to warm up and he can beat Cross, but hopefully we get a great match and that it goes all the way.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with Hills and Boylesports
Krzysztof Ratajski vs. Lewy Williams
Williams won his debut Euro Tour match last night with a 6-3 win over a local qualifier. His opponent had his moments, such as a 131 checkout, but Williams was able to take advantage of the local player nerves when he went 3-2 up. Both players got tight on the doubles and it was Williams who prevailed. He said that the pressure is off him now and he can enjoy this match. He will need to play considerably better if he is to live with Ratajski.
They have never played each other but Ratajski is the better and more experienced player. The Polish Eagle is the 1.33 favourite and is in good form. He may have lost his last three matches but he reached the semi-final of the World Matchplay and the semi-fianl of PC 21 last month. He is a top player and while not yet in the elite class, he’s not far off it.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Ratajski to win -2.5 legs @ 2.00 with BET365
Brendan Dolan vs. Alan Soutar
Soutar was impressive when beating another local qualifier 6-1. He averaged 97 with 40% on the doubles. He enjoyed himself and had fun with the crowd and he will be the fan favourite today.
He is up against one of the most consistent players of 2021, Brendan Dolan. The Northern Irishman has a 71% win rate in 2021, averaging 96 and has won a players championship title this season.
They have only met once with Dolan winning 6-4 in PC. Dolan hasn’t had much success on the Euro Tour and he has won just four of his last fourteen matches.
Dolan is the 1.80 favourite with Soutar a 2.05 shot. Dolan is moving back up the rankings, back in the top 32 and he will want to continue that trend and having a good run this weekend will help his cause. It should be close, could go either way, but this version of Dolan is so much better than he was even 12 months ago. Dolan likes a 6-5 and this one might just go to a decider.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Brendan Dolan to win @ 1.80 generally available
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 0.5 point Dolan to win 6-5 @ 7.00 with Boylesports
James Wade vs. William O’Connor
O’Connor got a bye into round two, so he hasn’t had a warm up match. Wade is in the same boat of course. James Wade has a 6-3 H2H record over O’Connor and he has won seven of his last ten matches. O’Connor is not in great form, losing six of his last ten and his win rate of 46% compares badly with Wade’s 69%.
Wade is the 1.42 favourite which is hard to disagree with. There is always the chance that Wade isn’t in the mood so it’s a one point bet rather than two.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point James Wade to win -1.5 legs @ 1.67 with Boylesports
Mensur Suljovic vs. William Borland
The lesser spotted Suljovic is an unknow quantity as he hasn’t played competitively since April. We can have no idea of what kind of form he is in.
Borland beat Engstrom 6-4 yesterday, averaging 87.8 with 33% on doubles. That may not be enough against even a rusty Suljovic. Boland is also a fairly pacey player and may not have played anyone as slow as Mensur. This season is just a learning exercise for Big Willy and there is no pressure on him.
I was going to have a small wager on Borland to take advantage of an underprepared Suljovic, but his best odds are just 2.55 and that’s not enough. No bet.
Devon Petersen vs. Luke Humphries
Humphries was disappointed with his performance when beating Razma 6-3 last night. He averaged 91.8 with 37.7% on the doubles and while not great, it got him here and he faces an out of form Petersen.
The African Warrior relies on hitting a lot of 180’s if he is to win, but his form is not good, losing six of his last ten and it must be said that his scoring has been very weak, averaging 91 for the season with a win rate of 50%. Humphries is in better form, scoring better and has the advantage of last nights match to get into the feel of the tournament.
Humphries is the 1.40 favourite and he should win this comfortably. They last met in last years Players Championship finals and Humphries won that 6-3. Expect something similar.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Luke Humphries to win -2.5 legs @ 2.25 with SportingIndex
Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Keane Barry
Dirk is another player in poor form, winning just two of his last ten matches and he has lost his last six in a row. It is not all dross but he has picked up a losing habit.
Young Keane Barry won his opener 6-3, averaging 92 with 50% on the doubles. He may be one of the next big things, but he is still far from the finished article at the top level. However, if he plays his A game he will probably win and the odds are just big enough to play.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Keane Barry to win @ 2.87 with Ladbrokes
Nathan Aspinall vs. Bradley Brooks
Bam Bam beat Adrian Lewis 6-5 last night despite Lewis averaging 99. That sums Lewis’ form up, but it was a big win for Brookes who played very well and took his chances.
Aspinall has gone of the boil losing five of his last ten, but he is 3-0 up against Brookes. This is a chance for Brookes and I wonder if he might just get a bit tight, getting ahead of himself. Aspinall makes no appeal at 1.23 and Brookes is tempting at 4.50 but he might just come up short, so the handicap it is.
Hungarian Darts Trophy Saturday: 1 point Brooks to win +2.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betfred
