ITV3 Sunday Tips From Goodwood and Perth
Yet again Goodwood proved to be a tough nut to crack on Saturday. Seattle Rock ran respectably in 3rd but he should have got 2nd. With only 2 places available it was very frustrating. Highland Dress finished 3rd too but again, with non-runners only 2 places were on offer. Communique at least landed place money in 2nd advised e/w @ 12/1. Tinandali and Duke Of Hazzard both hated the ground. There is still some cut in the ground today at Goodwood and we will look at the Perth Gold Cup too. Check out Dave Stevos ITV3 Sunday tips below…
goodwood 1.50pm: Ladbrokes Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3)
The one I like in this is the outsider in the field, Point In Time. Mark Usher has his string in serious form and this daughter of Champs Elysees will relish the ease in the ground at Goodwood. She has run well on her last couple of outings over 14f and the drop back to 12f looks sure to suit her too. Usher’s charge is 2lb above her last winning mark but she is more than capable of being competitive off 78.
She was only beat 1L off 80 at Kempton last November and at just 5yo she could still yet progress further. Most of her wins have come in bigger fields than this. However, she was beat just a nose in a higher class race when she faced just 5 opponents so she should be ok. In receipt of weight from her older rivals, Ice Sprite looks the one to beat. However, Mark Usher’s recent form figures read 51212440322 and at odds of 11/1 hopefully Point In Time continues his good run.

Goodwood Sunday Tips: 2.25pm – Ladbrokes Handicap (Class 2)
10 go to post in this class 2 handicap so at least there are 3 places on offer. Highland Dress ran well for us without placing yesterday and I am sticking to that form line for this contest. Chairmanoftheboard had him (and Woven) behind when winning at Newmarket last month and he is in as the favourite off top weight here. He was just over 3.5L in front of David Simcock’s charge in 4th but he was getting 5lb from Woven.
This time the tables have turned and Woven is carrying 4lb less than Chairmanoftheboard. That translates to a 9lb swing for under 4L, hardly insignificant. Okay, Woven ran poorly last time at Ascot (6f gd/fm) and the fav ran a cracker here but returning to easier ground will suit Woven. Hayley Turner has 13 winners (38 top 4s) from just 80 rides for this trainer and at odds of 11/1 Woven is the e/w selection.
ITV3 Sunday Tips: Woven e/w 11/1
ITV3 Sunday Tips: Goodwood 3.00pm – Ladbrokes Handicap (Class 2)
Another small field for this 10f handicap with just 5 going to post. Al Madhar is a horse I had high hopes for this season and I don’t think he is one to lose faith in yet. I backed him ante-post for the Guineas but he had a setback and didn’t run. His 2yo form is of the highest quality and he returned to action with a decent win at Newbury (10f gd/sft). He has beat just one home on his last two starts, in a G2 at York and a 12f handicap at Ascot.
It looked like the trip stretched him last time and he wasn’t beat all that far off 94. He is off the same rating here and on his 2yo form he should be capable of getting involved. He has won on good to soft so the ground should not be a problem and he has won at 10f too. Jim Crowley is in the plate (2/3 on him) and at odds of 7/1 Al Madhar is worth chancing each way.
ITV3 Sunday Tips: Al Madhar e/w @ 7/1
Perth Tips: 3.15pm – Perth Gold Cup (Class 2)
The ground is good to soft at Perth for their flagship race, the Perth Gold Cup. A field of 10 chasers will go to post and you couldn’t really discount any of them. Soupy Soups nearly did us a big favour last season when narrowly beat at Wincanton off 134 (25f gd/sft). He is in off 2lb lower today, he is a C&D winner and he looks to hold serious claims for Neil Mulholland. However, the bookies haven’t missed him and given his overall profile 5/1 looks short enough.
Amalfi Doug has form that ties in with Soupy Soups and he is priced up at 11/1. He beat Neil Mulholland’s charge easily off 125 back in October 2019, making all for a 2L win. He got a big hike for that victory but he is now back down to 130. Amalfi Doug was giving Soupy Soups 8lb that day and today he is in receipt of 5lb from that rival. On the figures, the 10yo son of Network should beat him again. He shaped as though coming back to form over an inadequate trip here last time and his form figures at Perth read 11221143. At odds of 11/1 Amalfi Doug can make a bold bid for Keith Dalgleish and Danny McMenamin.

Goodwood: 3.35pm – Supreme Stakes (Group 3)
The feature race of the day at Goodwood is the G3 Supreme Stakes. A pitiful field of just 5 go to post and it looks wide open. Escobar is the highest rated off 111 and he ran a cracker on his last start over C&D. Sent off at 40s, he belied those odds to finish 3rd behind Space Blues (D’Bai a length behind him in 6th). He wasn’t quite as good at York last time but back at Goodwood he ought to run another solid race.
Happy Power will relish the ground and has run well on both previous starts at Goodwood. His course form last term (8f) behind Too Darn Hot and Duke Of Hazzard gives him serious form claims. Snazzy Jazzy has also won here (6f) and the soft ground will really suit him too. We were on Toro Strike at Ascot at 66/1 for 6 places and he grabbed 5th (8f sft). He hosed up over C&D last time on good and he gets a weight for age allowance. Oisin Murphy rides and while Richard Fahey’s charge needs to improve again, at odds of 8/1 it is worth chancing that he does. At the prices, Toro Strike is the each way pick.
