Leicester vs Man Utd Preview and Betting Tips

Two teams that haven’t been in the best of form clash at the King Power on Saturday. Leicester vs Man Utd kicks off at 3pm and even at this early stage of the season, it feels like a massive match. Leicester have won just two of their first seven games and they are 13th in the Premier League with just 8 points. Utd sit 4th on 14 points but their last couple of displays were very worrying for a number of reasons. The #OleOut brigade are finding their voices again, can Solskjaer silence them with a win? Or will The Foxes pile even more pressure on to the Norwegian? Find out in our big match preview below.

Leicester

Brendan Rodgers will not be satisfied with his team’s results or performances this season. They scraped a 1-0 win vs Wolves on the opening day but since then, they have won just 1 of 6 (W1 D2 L3). Just one of those losses came against a ‘big four’ side (Man City) and the other two came at West Ham and at Brighton. They signed off before the international break with successive 2-2 draws, at home v Burnley and away at Palace.

On the plus side, Jamie Vardy has looked more lethal than ever and he has already scored 6 goals. He’ll be licking his lips at the prospect of coming up against a weakened Man Utd defence. Only three other Leicester players have scored this season. Tielemans, Albrighton and Iheanacho all have one goal apiece but Leicester’s biggest issues are at the opposite end of the pitch.

Leicester have had to cope without some key defenders due to injury. They’ve been without Evans and Fofana for the majority of the season and the latter is out long term. Soyuncu and Vestergaard have looked far from watertight at centre back and they’ll also be without Wilfried Ndidi on Saturday. However, they could well be facing Man Utd at the perfect time and it would be no surprise to see them get a positive result at the King Power.

Man Utd

The re-signing of Cristiano Ronaldo was viewed by many Utd fans as the missing piece of the jigsaw. However, even though he has scored 3 goals in 4 Premier League appearances, I think his arrival has had a detrimental impact on this team. He was out of favour at Juventus last season for a reason, the main one being that he doesn’t do enough work off the ball. Solskjaer has been trying to fit him and Pogba into the side but unfortunately, you simply won’t get away with having two luxury players on the pitch in this league.

Utd’s other big signing, Jadon Sancho, has been dreadful so far. He has yet to score or provide an assist and he was dropped for the last couple of EPL matches. Bruno has only scored once since his opening day hat-trick and he uncharacteristically smashed a penalty into row Z in the dying moments of Utd’s 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa. Mason Greenwood has been Utd’s most consistently dangerous attacker and they’ll be hoping to welcome Marcus Rashford back soon too.

However, Utd will be minus their two first choice centre backs, Maguire and Varane, this weekend. Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly could start and that is not a pairing that inspires confidence. They might just get away with it on Saturday but in the following fixtures, it could be tough going. Utd play Atalanta (h), Liverpool (h), Spurs (a), Atalanta (a) and Man City (h) in the next few weeks, a run of games that could define their season.

Leicester vs Man Utd Possible Lineups

Leicester: Schmeichel, Bertrand, Soyuncu, Vestergaard, Castagne, Lookman, Tielemans, Choudhury, Barnes, Vardy, Iheanacho.

Man Utd: De Gea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw, McTominay, Matic, Pogba, Bruno, Greenwood, Ronaldo.

Leicester vs Man Utd Betting Tip

The bookies make Man Utd the 11/10 favourites for Saturday. Leicester can be backed at 13/5 and the draw is 27/10. Given how both teams have been playing, either of them could win this. Utd will be without their two main centre backs and Fred and Cavani will also be absent. Leicester are weak defensively too so you would have to think this is a match that will produce goals. The draw and both teams to score at odds of 18/5 might be worth a small investment.

The ‘to be shown a card’ market served us well in the Liverpool vs Man City match and hopefully we can find another winner there this time. Paul Pogba has already been booked three times in the Premier League this season. He was also shown a yellow card when playing for France in midweek. His lack of intensity when tracking back means he often has to commit cynical fouls and if he starts on the left on Saturday he’ll have to deal with the pace and attacking ambition of Pereira and either Barnes or Lookman. Consequently, I think it is worth backing Paul Pogba to be shown a card at odds of 10/3.

Leicester vs Man Utd Betting Tips: Draw/Both Teams to score @ 18/5; Pogba to be shown a card @ 10/3
Leicester vs Man Utd Correct Score Prediction: 2-2 (odds 14/1)
