Live Sunday Racing Tips and Curragh Preview
Live Sunday Racing Tips From the Curragh
It wasn’t a bad day for us on Saturday but with a bit more luck it could have been a great day. Shimmering Dawn ran well and wasn’t that far off a place. Venturous was all dressed up with nowhere to go for Hollie Doyle 2f out. However, when the gaps did eventually come he flew home for 2nd. Yafta didn’t look comfortable at all and never figured. Cosmelli was not given the best of rides despite grabbing e/w money in 4th. Tommy Taylor ran a blinder to finish 3rd for us but our Derby tips couldn’t cope with the O’Brien onslaught. There is more top class racing action in Ireland today. Check out Dave Stevos’ live Sunday racing tips from the Curragh below…
Live Sunday Racing Tips: Curragh 3.45pm – Rockingham Stakes Handicap (Premier)
A field of 14 go to post for this year’s Rockingham and I like one at massive odds here. Miacomet hails from the in form Jack Davison yard and she was an improver last season as a 3yo. Her trainer kept her busy and the daughter of Dandy Man finished up with two wins in October. The second of those came here over 6f on soft/heavy but she previously scored over 5f at Cork (5f yld). You need plenty of speed to score over the fast 5f at Mallow.
This filly made her reappearance here a fortnight ago when the ground was too quick for her. The rain has come today though and yielding ground is perfect for her. She is in off 78 here, 5lb above her last win, but back on easy ground she could yet improve beyond that. Her course form in easy ground handicaps at the Curragh is solid (022321) and at odds of 40/1 she looks well worth chancing each way.

Live Sunday Racing Tips: Curragh 4.15pm – Greenlands Stakes Handicap (Class 2)
Make A Challenge couldn’t have been more impressive on his seasonal return at Naas. He hosed up in a Listed contest and looked as good as ever. He will love the ground today at the Curragh where he has form figures of 1211. Denis Hogan’s horses are in great nick and at odds of 6/4 he looks the one they all have to beat.
However, another trainer who has his string in fine form is Kevin Ryan and Queen Jo Jo is a fascinating contender here. This filly ran Soffia close in a G3 here last season. She also produced a cracking effort behind Liberty Beach at Haydock 3 weeks ago. That form is rock solid and was boosted by the winner at Royal Ascot. 8/1 looks a more than fair price and at those odds Queen Jo Jo is worth backing each way.

Live Sunday Preview: 4.45pm Curragh – Pretty Polly Stakes (Group 1)
The big race of the day on Sunday is the Pretty Polly Stakes. A 10f G1 contest for the girls this looks like Magical to lose. She has the best form in the book, is the highest rated by 8lb and if even 80% fit she should be good enough to win this. At long odds on she isn’t a bet though. Roca Roma is an interesting runner with a very different profile but this is a huge step up for her. With only 7 going to post this does not appeal as a betting heat so I’ll be sitting it out. No bet.
LIVE SUNDAY TIPS: NO BET
Curragh Tips: 5.15pm – Equine MediRecord Handicap (4yo+)
Contrapposto is a horse I had very high hopes for as a 3yo. Formerly trained by David Menuisier, this son of Cacique ran a cracker in the Craven Stakes back in 2017 but he never realised his potential. He had a couple of muscle injuries and he is now trained in Ireland by the O’Sheas. It has taken a while for him to rediscover his form, but he ran a huge race last time and if he builds on that he could be dangerous here.
Contrapposto was rated as high as 99 in his pomp and his mark is a lot lower now. He was beat less than 2L off 77 last time and a 1lb rise looks fair. Good/yielding ground is ideal for this fella and even a repeat of his excellent 4th behind Perfect Tapatino at Gowran would be enough for him to feature here. The drop back in trip should not be an issue, once they go a decent clip. At odds of 14/1 Contrapposto is the e/w NAP of the day.

Curragh Tips: 5.45pm – Irish Stallion Farms Handicap (4yo+)
The last race of the day at the Curragh is a 16f handicap and 17 go to post. I tipped up Dinard Rose for the Irish Cesarewitch last season and while she only came 7th, it was a super effort from her. She faded late in the day on the soft ground and the slightly better conditions today should suit her. This 4yo daughter of Champs Elysees has won 3 races on the flat and her Ulster Cesarewitch win last season came over 18f so she definitely stays today’s trip.
That win came off a mark of 69 and her run in the Irish Cesarewitch came off 84. She is now in off a mark of 80 and with her very talented rider’s claim she is effectively off 75 today. Her trainer has his horses in good form and he had a nice first time out winner on the level at Navan during the week. If this filly is fit and raring to go she could outrun her massive odds with Gavin Ryan doing the steering. At odds of 33/1 Dinard Rose is the each way pick.
