Newmarket Racing Tips Saturday for ITV Live Races
Preview of ITV Live Races At Newmarket
It was a tough day for us on Friday at Newmarket with only one of our tips hitting the frame. That was Valerina Messalina who pushed Rose Of Kildare all the way at 14/1, landing e/w bets in second. Poets Dance pulled her chance away in the early stages and was far too keen. Cayenne Pepper didn’t look in love with the ground and the same could be said about Ananya. Skymax paid the price for chasing a strong pace and faded badly. It is Cesarewitch day and Dave Stevos has been studying the form. Check out his Newmarket racing tips Saturday for all ITV live races below…
Newmarket Racing Tips Saturday: 2.20 Zetland Stakes (Group 3)
The first live race of the day from Newmarket on ITV is the Group 3 Zetland Stakes. This 10f contest has attracted a field of 7 colts and 2 fillies and Mythical heads the market for Ballydoyle. The son of Camelot hacked up on his 2nd career start in a Gowran (8f sft) maiden by 8L. It was a massive improvement on his first run when he was well beaten on good to firm. A bit of an ease could be the key to him and he should enjoy the ground at Newmarket. 5/2 looks too skinny on what he has achieved but he could easily prove up to the task.
At double figure odds Max Vega could go well for in form Ralph Beckett. This son of Lope de Vega has a similar profile to the favourite. He was only 2nd on debut but he left that behind with a commanding win on good to soft at Pontefract. His half brother, Campfor, has won at 10f so this step up in trip could suit. Harry Bentley will take the ride and Beckett is in solid form. At odds of 10/1 Max Vega could go well for each way players.

Newmarket Racing tips Saturday: 2.55 – Autumn Stakes (Group 3)
Another race for Juveniles, this time over 8f. Molatham is a warm order to follow up his Listed win at Doncaster (7f gd/fm) but he is unraced on ground with soft in the description. That form looks strong though if he does handle an ease. A pair of maiden winners in Cherokee Trail and Persia spearhead the Coolmore challenge. Ryan Moore rides the latter for Aidan O’Brien, while Frankie rides the former for John Gosden.
Al Suhail probably has some of the best form in the race and he is around 5/1. However, at over 10 times those odds Ropey Guest’s form is just as good. Regular readers will know I really rate this horse and he has solid form at Group 2, Group 3 and Listed level. He was given a poor ride last time by Tom Queally who somehow found all sorts of trouble in a 6 runner field here over 7f. He should have finished closer to Wichita that day but had to settle for a well beaten 3rd. Good to soft ground will suit, as should this new distance and at monstrous odds an e/w interest is advised.

Newmarket Racing Preview: 3.30 – Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1)
This is a race you won’t want to miss. The mighty Pinatubo is 1/3 for this year’s Dewhurst and this son of Shamardal could put on a spectacular show. William Buick rode him for the first time in the Group 1 National Stakes and he hosed up by 9L. It was one of the best displays ever produced by a 2yo at the Curragh and the scary thing for his rivals is that there could be more still to come. The only worry is easy ground but it isn’t that testing and he is impossible to oppose.
The battle will be for place money in behind and due to Pinatubo’s price, there is each way value to be found. On ratings, Wichita should finish 2nd but who will grab 3rd? At the prices, Monarch Of Egypt could be worth chancing each way. The mount of Wayne Lordan has shown his best form with an ease in the ground and conditions look ideal for him at Newmarket. He bombed out on good ground last time, but previously pushed Siskin all the way on soft. Hopefully Lordan doesn’t chase Pinatubo too hard and rides this fella for a place. At odds of 33/1 Monarch Of Egypt is the each way pick.

Newmarket tips saturday: 4.10 – Cesarewitch Handicap (Class 2)
When I first looked at this race earlier this week Great Trango leapt off the page at 40/1. Unfortunately I wasn’t the only one to notice and he is a best price of 16s now. That is probably a truer reflection of his chance and with Lordan in the plate he looks sure to run a big race. The value is probably gone now though and given that since 2010 there has been winners at 25/1, 66/1, 66/1 and 50/1, backing one for small stakes at massive odds make sense.
In the Cesarewitch a high draw is usually favoured. 8 of the last 10 winners were drawn 13 or higher and with showers around an ability to handle an ease is important too. Over a trip of 18f stamina is needed also and one horse that ticks all three boxes is Darksideoftarnside. This fella races off the same mark off which he was a close 2nd at Ascot (16f). He won off 80 on his previous outing and with Gabriele Malune’s claim he is effectively a pound lower here.
The form of his win received a big boost with the 3rd home scooting home by 11L on his next start. He has a grand draw in stall 25 and the more rain that falls the better his chance will be. His trainer thinks he might have a squeak and it is hard to argue with him. This son of Intense Focus has won off higher marks in the past and with ground to suit and a decent draw, Darksideoftarnside is our each way selection at 28/1 (7 places Ladbrokes).
