Saturday Austrian Darts Open Betting Tips

James Punt got off to an ok start in yesterday’s evening session with a couple of decent winners. He’s hoping to do even better this afternoon and he has three bets in total. Check out James’ Saturday Austrian Darts Open preview is below.

Andrew Gilding vs. Matt Campbell

The Ginga Jinga won his first round match with Ian White 6-5 last night. It was another decent display from a player who is playing well but not a serial winner, yet. Last night’s match was his first Euro Tour win so we can’t expect too much more, but he is showing a decent level of consistency and should give a good account of himself.

Gilding has won six of his last ten matches but his last three saw averages of 88, 88 and 79. He has played well on the Euro Tour with four wins from six in 2023.

Gilding is the 1.50 favourite, which is a touch short, while Campbell is the 2.70 outsider. Seven of Gilding’s last ten matches have seen nine legs or less, but I expect Campbell to make a match of this and he may win, but I’ll go for an overs match.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.00 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports

Josh Rock vs. Krzysztof Ratajski

The best match of the session is unusually early on the card. The in-form Polish Eagle has won seven of his last ten matches, including a 6-4 win over Rock in the quarter final of PC9 last Saturday. Ratajski went on to win the title. He is in great form and scoring very consistently with all ten of those matches seeing 91+ averages and five 97+.

Rock is also in good form, winning eight of his last ten matches, losing back-to-back players championship quarter finals. His coring has been every bit as consistent as Ratajski’s with eight seeing mid to high 90s averages and a couple of ton plusses.

Their H2H record is 4-1 to Rock and in 2023 2-1. Rock is the 1.66 favourite with Ratajski 2.25. We are on Rock outright and this will be a severe test of his chances and that is enough interest in the match for me. No bet.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Dave Chisnall vs. Micky Mansell

Mansell is one of the least pleasing on the eye players. Slow and deliberate, he can upset the rhythm of some players. He has won six of his last ten matches and he is playing quite well with a good deal of consistency.

Chizzy has lost five of his last ten matches and after winning ET1, he has gone out in the third round of the following three events. He is playing well enough but three of his last seven have seen sub 90 averages, so he is not banker material.

Their H2H record is 7-5 to Chisnall but they have not played since 2021 and that was their only match in the last four and a half years. Chisnall is the 1.29 favourite and Mansell 3.30. Chisnall makes no appeal at those odds and wile Mansell is tempting at 1.85 with a +2.5 handicap, I’ll sit this one out.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Damon Heta vs. Luke Woodhouse

Woodhouse was limping badly in his opening match against Marcus Haider and his darts were equally as limp as he averaged just 82.7 in a 6-3 win. He has won seven of his last ten and yesterday’s average was his worst for a while.

Heta has also won seven of his last ten matches and after a slow start to the year, he has hit some good form, reaching the quarter final of ET2 & 3 and the semi-final of ET4. He also reached the quarter final of PC10 on Sunday so he is in winning form.

Their H2H record is 3-3 and it is Woodhouse who has won both of their 2023 matches 6-4. Heta is playing better now and if Woodhouse is being affected by his injury, I would expect the Aussie to win. Heta is the 1.40 favourite with Woodhouse 3.20. If Woodhouse was fighting fit, he would be the value bet, but I didn’t like what I saw yesterday and this is another one to avoid.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Rob Cross vs. Maik Kuivenhoven

Cross is hard to pin down right now. He his playing some good stuff but is finding winning quite difficult. He has lost four of his last ten despite scoring well in the main. He is probably getting a bit frustrated as he has had plenty of good runs in the last six months but not landed a title.

Voltage has lost two of his four ET second round matches in 2023 but reached a semi-final and quarter final of the other two. Like I said, he is hard to pin down.

Kuivenhoven can only dream of winning a title but he is a decent journeyman pro who has his moments. He struggled to a 6-5 win over Bradley Brook yesterday in a fairly low quality match. He averaged 88 and it was just his third win from his last ten. His scoring is generally low, seven of his last ten have seen sub 90 averages, and Cross really should have no bother here.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: 1 point Rob Cross to win -2.5 legs @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes

Joe Cullen vs. Nick Kenny

Nick Kenny won on his Euro Tour debut yesterday, beating Madars Razma 6-4. That was only his second win in his last ten matches and an 87 average is about where his game is at right now.

Cullen has won six of his last ten and reached the semi-final of ET4 a couple of weeks ago. He is playing OK but no more than that and his 2023 win rate of 56% sums it up.

Cullen is the 1.33 favourite, Kenny 3.60. Another match with zero appeal for betting.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Nathan Aspinall vs. Hannes Schnier

This should be a gentle way into the final day for The Asp. Schnier’s season average is 76.9 and he averaged 82.97 when beating a very disappointing Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-5 yesterday. Normal service should be resumed today and Aspinall should justify odds of 1.10 and win at a canter.

Saturday Austrian Darts Open Tip: 1 point Aspinall to win -3.5 legs @ 1.80 with Unibet

Jonny Clayton vs. Jelle Klaasen

Clayton has won seven of his last ten matches and reached the semi-final of PC9 a week ago. Two of his last three matches saw him have low averages and resulted in defeats to Rock and Price.

Klaasen beat William O’Connor 6-5 yesterday, averaging 96.2. He no longer has a tour card and we don’t get to see much of him, but he won three matches at the UK Open, lost 4-6 to Gary Anderson in PC8 and he can still play, just not consistently.

Clayton has a 2-1 H2H record with Klassen but their last match was in 2017. Clayton is the 1.25 favourite in what is another match with very little appeal. No bet.
