Belgian Darts Open Saturday Preview

It was a decent start for James Punt at the Belgian Darts Open on Friday night and he is back in action again this afternoon. Check out his 2023 Belgian Darts Open Saturday preview and tips below.

Andrew Gilding vs. Andy Baetens

Gilding has won six of his last ten matches but he isn’t quite at the top of his game. He has played in four Euro Tour events in 2023 and has won all four of his opening matches, three of them 6-4.

Baetens beat Wattimena 6-3 last night. It was a solid performance, very strong on the doubles and he will be no push over for Gilding. He had to win seven matches to qualify on Thursday, so he is on a run of eight straight wins. He only dropped nine legs in those seven qualifiers and he had averages of 102.9 and two 97’s, so he has gears. Gilding will be tough competition and he can keep his run of winning his opening match going.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Gilding to win 6-4 @ 6.25 with Unibet

Rob Cross vs. Stefan Bellmont

Bellmont finally got his first ever Euro Tour win yesterday, beating Robert Owen 6-4. He played well enough, averaging 91.8, but Owen was very poor. Cross is playing with a great deal of consistency if not much confidence, losing six of his last ten matches. He will be too good for Bellmont.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Rob Cross to win -2.5 legs @ 1.88 with Unibet

Joe Cullen vs. Matt Campbell

Campbell came up against a very out of sorts Callan Rydz yesterday and cantered to an easy 6-3 win, averaging 92.8. He has won six of his last ten matches but he has lost both of his 2nd round matches on the Euro Tour this year, a 5-6 loss to MVG and a 4-6 defeat by Andrew Gilding last weekend. He has been scoring well in the main and Cullen will need to be on his game.

Cullen has lost five of his last ten matches but he is playing well, just getting beaten by some good performances against him. His doubling has let him down in those five defeats and if he isn’t performing on the outer ring, Campbell is good enough to take advantage.

Cullen is the 1.44 favourite, Campbell 2.85. There is some value in Campbell but I’ll pass on this one.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Danny Noppert vs. Ted Evetts

Super Ted had an easy 6-2 win over Denis Nilsson yesterday and he is sounding quite confident about his game. He has won six of his last ten matches but half have seen sub 90 averages and his win rate in 2023 is only 51%.

Noppert has also won six of his last ten matches and had four sub 90 averages. He is having good runs on the Euro Tour, with a semi-final and three consecutive quarter finals in the last three events. He hasn’t been entirely convincing and could be there for the taking. Their H2H record is 2-1 to Noppert and he won their only match this year 6-3, the other two both required a deciding leg.

Noppert is the 1.30 favourite with Evetts 3.65. I’ll take Evetts on the handicap as there is a chance that Noppert has one of his off days.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Ted Evetts to win +2.5 legs @ 1.83 with Fitzdares

Damon Heta vs. Damian Mol

Heta is in decent form, winning seven of his last ten matches and he has won all six of his Euro Tour second round matches. He starts his tournaments well, finishing them well is his problem.

Mol beat Jeff Smith 6-5 in a fairly low quality affair. Mol hit four 180’s which kept him in the game and he was able to get over the line first. He has lost six of his last ten matches and consistency is not really part of his game. There have been five sub 90 averages but also a 103. His seasonal average is just 86.8 and his win rate 31%.

Heta is the 1.29 favourite and he should justify those odds without too much bother.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Damon Heta to win -2.5 legs @ 1.98 with Unibet

Martin Schindler vs. Daryl Gurney

It was another encouraging performance from Superchin last night, beating Dylan Slevin 6-3. It was a solid 94.7 average and 54% on the doubles. He has won eight of his last ten matches but he is still not at his best.

Schindler has won six of his last ten matches but lost three of his last four. He isn’t showing a great deal of experience. He has lost three of his six opening matches on the Euro Tour.

Gurney is 4-1 in their H2H’s but he is the marginal outsider at 1.97 and I’ll have some of that.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Daryl Gurney to win @ 1.97 with Unibet

Ryan Searle vs. Gary Anderson

The two practice partners go H2H. Not a scenario I like. Anderson powered through an out of sorts Ratajski yesterday, winning 6-1 with a 98.4 average. That ended a run of four straight losses but it has got his Euro Tour campaign under way.

Anderson is 7-3 against Searle and it will be interesting to watch the body language. Will Searle be a bit servant to Anderson’s master? Anderson is the 1.73 favourite and Searle 2.15. I do not like mates matches. No bet.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Jonny Clayton vs. Keane Barry

Barry has won seven of his last ten matches and is enjoying his Euro Tour events, reaching the quarter final in the two that he has qualified for. Yesterday was another good start, a 6-1 win while not having to get out of first gear against an associate qualifier from Germany.

Clayton has won seven of his last ten and won the Austrian Darts Open two weeks ago. He lost at this stage last week, a 6-5 defeat by Berry van Peer. He still played well and while he isn’t at peak Ferret level, he is hard to beat. The Welshman will certainly be feeling the more confident of the two, having beaten Barry in all six previous matches.

Clayton is the 1.36 favourite, Barry 3.35. Two of their five best of 11 leg matches have ended 6-4 and that was the score when they played last month.

Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Jonny Clayton to win 6-4 @ 6.50 with Ladbrokes
