Saturday Newmarket Racing Tips For ITV4 Races
Tips and Preview of All ITV4 Live Races At Newmarket
Things didn’t get much better for us on Friday at Newmarket. Sh Boom ran a cracker in fairness to her, she was simply left with too much to do. She wasn’t beat far and black type should be attainable for connections at some point. Blue Gardenia was as good as pulled up by Jamie Spencer and she is a better horse than that. Blissful travelled well for a long way but faded, as did Happy Power. Hopefully our luck changes on a magnificent day of racing tomorrow. Check out Dave Stevos Saturday Newmarket racing tips below…
Saturday Newmarket Racing Tips: 1.50 Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2)
The opening race on Cambridgeshire day at Newmarket is the 8f Group 2 Royal Lodge. For 2yo colts and geldings only, this looks a cracking little race. Kameko is a warm order for Balding and Murphy after his good 2nd last time at Sandown. He stayed on strongly over 7f there, shaping as though 8f would be ideal. However, at the prices I prefer the chances of last time out Haydock winner Pyledriver.
This son of Harbour Watch won on quick ground on debut so today’s conditions hold no fears. He won really well on his 2nd try in Listed Company (3rd career start) on soft (8f). William Muir’s charge was held up early before pouncing late to score by a comfortable 1.25L. His debut win on firm produced plenty of winners and he can be excused his 2nd start as it was a big step up in class and he lacked experience. Pyledriver should be a lot more streetwise now and at odds of 9/1 he is the e/w pick.

Newmarket Preview Saturday: 2.25 – Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1)
The 2yo fillies take centre stage in the Cheveley Park, a 6f Group 1 contest. 11 will go to post and the ultra-consistent Raffle Prize is the one to beat. She got to within a neck of Earthlight last time, form that could be massively boosted in the Middle Park. That effort came on heavy but the daughter of Slade Power has won on good to soft, good and good to firm so it seems all ground comes alike to her. Frankie rides, her form is rock solid and it is hard to see what can beat her.
Living In The Past likes to get on with things, just like Raffle Prize, and another pace angle is Nurse Barbara. That could mean an extremely strong pace and it would be no surprise if the emphasis was more on stamina than speed in the final furlong. For that reason, Dark Lady looks a very interesting contender. This filly saw off Millisle last time at Salisbury over 6f, battling on well. She was only beat a head at Goodwood previously over 7f at Goodwood, proving her stamina. A furiously run 6f here could play to her strengths and at 16/1 she is the each way pick.

Saturday Newmarket Racing Tips: 3.00 – Middle Park Stakes (Group 1)
The 2019 Middle Park may not just be the race of the year, it could be one of the best renewals ever. It has attracted a fantastic field of 9 colts and with a 113 rated horse in Golden Horde priced up at 25/1, it shows just how stacked with quality this race is. Unbeaten French raider Earthlight is the favourite for Fabre and Barzalona and he is 4/4 in France. His best form has come with cut in the ground though and while he has won on good, it was nowhere near as good a race as his last two.
He beat the leading Juvenile filly in Raffle Prize last time on heavy and Earthlight’s supporters will be hoping the form is franked earlier on the card. Mums Tipple is a very hard one to evaluate. He was spectacular when winning at York by 11L but is he really as good as he looked there? Siskin is also unbeaten after 4 starts and he holds Monarch Of Egypt on their last 2 meetings. Ger Lyons’ charge will appreciate the return to quicker ground too and 11/2 looks a huge price. The likes of Threat, Lope Y Fernandez and even Golden Horde add more intrigue, but at the prices Siskin is the pick.

Newmarket Racing Preview: 3.40 – Cambridgeshire Handicap (Class 2)
The last race we will look at on Saturday at Newmarket is the Cambridgeshire Handicap. 35 horses will line up at the start and in the past few years those drawn high have held an advantage. The top 3 in the market are drawn 33, 29 and 32 so it looks as though the high numbers could hold the aces again. The one that looks massively overpriced from stall 34 is Nicholas T for Jim Goldie.
Ben Robinson will ride this son of Rail Link and he gets on really well with him. His form figures on him read 2121132, all this season. Nicholas T ran a blinder in the Silver Cambridgeshire here last year, finishing 7th overall but 3rd of 11 that raced on the far side. He is 7lb higher now off 96 but his last three runs off that mark proved he can be competitive off his current rating. A strongly run race over 9f at Newmarket should suit and with 8 places available from Skybet, Nicholas T looks a cracking each way bet at 40/1.
