Sunday Evening Austrian Darts Open Tips
It was another solid afternoon for us on Sunday with a couple of nice winners. James Punt is hoping to finish with a flourish tonight. We also have two live outright bets in Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall. Here’s hoping for a profitable night, check out Dave Stevos’ Sunday Evening Austrian Darts Open tips below.
Danny Noppert vs. Joe Cullen
Danny Noppert produced a masterclass to beat Jonny Clayton 6-2. Clayton averaged 101 but he hardly got a look in with Noppert averaging 104. That is a 103 average last night followed by a 104 this afternoon and Noppert is looking at the top of his game.
Joe Cullen was very nearly as good when beating Ratajski 6-2, averaging 101. He has clearly got Thursday night’s performance out of his mind. Cullen commented after his match that a good night’s sleep had set him up for the match, and he will be better if rested. Noppert doesn’t have the same schedule as the Premier League boys, but he had to play a first-round match on Friday, one more than Cullen.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Cullen and on the Euro Tour 1-1. They met at the quarter final stage in 2018 and it was Noppert who won that one. I have been very impressed with Noppert so far and I’ll take him to edge it
Sunday Evening Austrian Darts Open Tips: 1 point Danny Noppert to win @ 1.95 with Betfred
Between the two of them they have hit seventeen 180s. Noppert at 0.39 per leg, Cullen 0.33. That is top class and in a match that looks like it could be close, there should be time for a feast of maximums.

Ricky Evans vs. Nathan Aspinall
Rapid Ricky was just that is his 6-0 dispatch of Danny Jansen. He needed just 88 darts to win his six legs and it was a complete performance and a nice 101 average.
Nathan Aspinall beat Madars Razma 6-2 in a strange match. Razma looked good until he got near the doubles, which he couldn’t hit (2/18). Aspinall was poor on the trebles, but excellent on the doubles (6/8) and he mugged Razma. That makes it nine wins from his last ten matches for Aspinall.
Evans has hit two ton plus averages from his three matches so far. Aspinall is averaging just 93 across his two games. Their H2H record is 6-4 to Aspinall, but The Asp has won their last five and Evans has not beaten his opponent since 2016.
H2H Favours Aspinall
Ricky Evans has played three Euro Tour quarter finals and won two. Aspinall has played eight and won three, but he has won his last two, so he is over his quarter-finals hoodoo.
The H2H stats favour Aspinall, but Evans has been the better player so far this weekend. Aspinall is in winning form however and you feel that he will find his A game at some point. If he doesn’t find it, Evans can take his chance
We are on Aspinall to win the tournament but the value in this match looks to be with Evans.

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Michael van Gerwen
The Aubergenius had no problems with Zoran Lerchbacher, winning 6-1 and averaging 100. He shut the crowd up early and it was a bit of a non-event in the end. That makes it eight wins from ten for Van Duijvenbode.
Michael van Gerwen came back from 2-4 to beat James Wade 6-5. Wade really should have gone 5-2 up and he’ll be kicking himself. Van Gerwen did what he does these days, missing doubles and giving his opponents chances they would never have got two or three years ago. Still, he found a way to get out of gaol and into the quarters.
Their H2H record is 6-1 to MVG and perhaps unsurprisingly, Dirk’s only win came in 2021 when his game was up and MVG’s down.
Interesting Match
This will be interesting to watch. MVG is still the same scoring machine that he ever was, but he is not as lethal. He tends to miss big doubles and hands his opponents chances. Van Duijvenbode is good enough to take them, but is he still in awe of MVG? He will have spent years looking up to him as the biggest name in not just Dutch darts, but world darts. Does he see himself as a better player? I have my doubts.
Van Gerwen is the 1.40 favourite, Van Duijvenbode 3.00 and the odds look about right.
Van Duijvenbode tops the 180s per leg table and he has outscored MVG in that department so far, hitting 5 at 0.29 per leg compared to MVG’s 2 at 0.10 per leg.

Rob Cross vs. Stephen Bunting
Rob Cross very nearly blew it again against Clemens. He had him at arm’s length for most of the match, but Clemens came back from 3-5 to square it 5-5 with a 150 checkout, the second big finish he has had this weekend which has cost us money. Cross hit a 14 dart leg to finally get his first win over Clemens.
Both players were poor on the doubles and Cross is going to have improve on his performance this afternoon if he is to make further progress. He hit five 180s and that sort of scoring is going to give him plenty of chances, but he needs to take them better. Hopefully for our ante post bet he can, and he was just tight playing against a player who he had never beaten before.
Poor Average
Stephen Bunting beat a disappointing Callan Rydz 6-4. Rydz was poor and could only manage an 83.8 average. He is a lot better than that and needs to slow down a bit when he’s frustrated. Bunting averaged 95.6 in the end, but it was a slow start and winning legs with 17,16 and 19 darts could be punished more effectively by Cross. Bunting’s last three legs were 14,13 and 15 darts, so it was a game of two halves for Bunting.
Their H2H record is 7-2 to Rob Cross and in 2022 it is 1-1. Neither player has ever won a Euro Tour event and in terms of quarter finals, Cross has played 19 and won 8, Bunting played 11 and won 5. Neither are event specialists.
Cross is the 1.70 favourite with Bunting 2.15 (Ladbrokes odds only at this point). I wouldn’t argue with those, and this is a no bet for me.
