Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tips

Well, what an afternoon that was. James Punt’s scorching form continued as he sent the bookies running for cover again. He fired in another four winners at odds of 2.25, 2.38, 4.0 and 8.0! Can he keep this sensational form going? Hopefully he can, check out his Sunday Evening German Darts GP preview and tips below.

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Max Hopp

It was all a bit of a struggle for Hopp yesterday. He beat the out of form Alan Soutar 6-4, with the Scotsman averaging just 83. Hopp is clearly struggling with his game and home advantage or not, this looks like as far has he can go this weekend.

Van den Bergh has lost four of his last ten and is only in reasonable form. There are a few sub 90 averages creeping in and fewer of the big ton plus ones.

Their H2H record is 5-4 to Dimitri but they have not met since a year and a day ago and most of their H2H form was back when Hopp was a tougher proposition.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Van den Bergh to win -2.5 legs @ 1.80 with Ladbrokes

Damon Heat vs. Raymond van Barneveld

Heta is one of the form players coming into this and another outright selection. He has won seven of his last ten, has been playing at a very high level all year and he picked up a players championship title and has won 75% of his matches.

Barney didn’t have to do much to beat James Wilson 6-0 last night and he will have to find his A game this evening. They have met once, last year, and Heta won that 6-4. Barney averaged 94.9 last night, very much in line with his seasonal average. His win rate is just 54% however, and he does find winning back-to-back tricky. Heta is the 1.40 favourite, but he can be backed at 1.73 on the handicap.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Heta to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Betfred

Gabriel Clemens vs. Martin Lukeman

These two met on the floor last weekend and it was Clemens who was the 6-4 winner. The German Giant has won eight of his last ten matches, as has Lukeman, so we have two of the form players going head-to-head in this second round match. We have backed Clemens outright at 151.00 so hopefully he can use home advantage to unsettle the less experienced Englishman. Clemens is the 1.67 favourite and Lukeman 2.50.

It should be a close game between two in form players and hopefully Clemens wins, and perhaps with a repeat of last weekend’s score line.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Clemens to win 6-4 @ 6.50 with Fitzdares, Betfred

Gerwyn Price vs. Keane Barry

Barry managed a 6-4 win over Lukas Wenig last night, but he only averaged 83 and he continues to struggle for form. He faced Price last Friday on the floor and lost 4-6, his second defeat to Price, the other a 1-6 defeat last year.

Price is not yet fully fit, and his standard of play has dropped in the last month or so. He is a little lucky to draw a player who is out of form at this second-round stage. He is the 1.29 favourite, deservedly so given Barry’s current struggles.

Price has lost five of his last ten matches, Barry six of his. There is no way Price makes any appeal at 1.29, but Barry’s scoring has been off the mark in recent weeks so it’s hard to get excited by his odds of 3.90. It is a no bet match for me.

LATE NEWS – Price has withdrawn from the tournament due to illness.

Peter Wright vs. Scott Waites

Scott Waites continued with his 100% winning record in Euro Tour First round matches, with a 6-1 win over Horvat. However, he is yet to win a second-round match. At least he faces a Peter Wright who has lost six of his last ten matches while Waites himself has now won eight of his last ten. However, six of those matches saw him average under 90 and his seasonal average of 89.4 is not going to worry Snakebite.

These two have only met once and it was Wright who won 6-1. He may be not at his best, but he is still likely to outscore Waites by some margin.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Wright to win -2.5 legs @ 1.67 generally available

Michael van Gerwen vs. Chris Dobey

Two of the heaviest scorers in the game, but one of them is a legend, the other the game’s biggest under achiever. Only four players have a better 12 month average than Dobey. Wright, Clayton, Price….and MVG, but his is just 2 points better than Dobey’s 97. Dobey has won two PDC ranking titles, both on the floor last year. MVG has won a few more.

This will be their tenth meeting and Dobey is yet to get the better of MVG. He has taken him to a decider four times and in their eight best of eleven matches, six have gone to 10 or more legs.

Dobey has not been playing well lately, losing six of his last eight matches and his usual heavy scoring has largely been absent.

MVG has won eight of his last ten and his scoring has been very strong with six ton plus averages. It is hard to see how Dobey will end his terrible record against Van Gerwen.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Michael van Gerwen to win -2.5 legs @ 2.20 with Ladbrokes

Ryan Searle vs. Danny Baggish

With a win rate of 30%, it is hard to see Baggish going much further than this second round match against the bang in form Searle. The Gambler averaged 78.6 in his 6-2 win over a local qualifier last night. A repeat of that and he gets a thrashing.

Searle has won 14 of his last 16, Baggish 1 of his last 10. There can’t be a bigger differential in terms of recent form. Their H2H form sees only one previous match and that was a 6-4 win for Baggish last year.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point under 8.5 legs @ 2.20 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports
Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Ryan Searle to win -2.5 legs @ 1.67 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports

Michael Smith vs. Berry van Peer

Smith has a 3-0 H2H record over Van Peer, with cumulative leg score of 18-7. Bully Boy has won seven of his last ten matches and while he does have some very flat spots, more often than not, he scores heavily. He also tends to beat himself too often, but Van Peer is a player who he should be able to blow away before Smith starts to doubt himself.

Van Peer is most famous for having dartitis, but he is coming back from that and has been putting in some good performances. However, he has lost six of his last ten matches. He will need Smith to have an off night to get much out of this match.

Sunday Evening German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Michael Smith to win -2.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes
