UK Open Friday Night Preview
James Punt had a couple of nice winners this afternoon and he is hoping to fire in more tonight. Check out his UK Open Friday Night preview and tips below.
Michael van Gerwen vs. Gary Anderson
The glamour tie of the fourth round. MVG leads the H2H stats 46-18 but Anderson won their most recent match 6-4 in the Premier league a few weeks ago. Across their last ten it is 7-2 to MVG with a PL draw. MVG won premier league night 4 last night and was in devastating form averaging 101.9 and losing just three legs.
Anderson has lost his five of his last six matches despite scoring well most of the time. He now faces an MVG who had a much needed boost in confidence last night.
MVG to win is just 1.33 to win but he should cover the handicap.

Chris Dobey vs. Michael Smith
Over the last 12 months, it is Dobey who has the higher average at 97.5 compared to 97.1 for Smith. I might have a pop at Smith for not winning as many titles as he should, but what about Dobey, one of the great underachievers having won just two players championship titles last year. His recent form sees him in good form, winning seven of his last ten and, not surprisingly, scoring well.
Michael Smith finally got a win in the premier league last night, beating Joe Cullen 6-5 with a 97 average which he repeated in defeat to MVG. He last lost six of his last ten, despite scoring well. Their H2H record is 4-2 to Smith but they haven’t played since late 2020.
Dobey will be underrated and worth backing to win a longish match.

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Daryl Gurney
Our number two selection to win the tournament, Dimitri van den Bergh has got a tough draw here. Their H2H record is 6-2 to Superchin but Van den Bergh won their last two, including a 6-5 win a couple of weeks ago. Van den Bergh averaged 108 in that match, Gurney 102.
Dimitri has won eight of his last ten matches, Daryl seven. Dimitri’s two defeats came when he went AWOL on the doubles, as was the case in the euro tour quarter final at the weekend when he was just 16% on the doubles.
In the same event it was Gurney’s misses at doubles which meant he failed to break Damon Heta’s throw a couple of times and he went down 6-2, with 25% on the doubles. When they played that epic players championship match recently, both were over 70%. Over the last six months, there is little between them checkout wise with 39% for Dimitri and 38% for Daryl.
The call here is a bet on a close match.

Joe Cullen vs. Peter Wright
Wright got hammered 0-6 by MVG last night but he beat Price and Wade, both 6-2 and both ton plus averages. He has won seven of his last ten and generally plays very well, but just throws a sub 90 about every four matches.
Their H2H record is 20-5 to Wright and he has won seven of their last eight.
Cullen has also won seven of his last ten matches but after a 14 match unbeaten run, he has lost three of his last four and his form has dipped a little.
UK Open Friday Night Tips: 1 point Peter Wright to win -2.5 legs @ 2.05 with Betfred
Krzysztof Ratajski vs. Gerwyn Price
Price leads the H2H’s by 8-3 and in their last two major matches, Price has won 5-0 and 10-3 in the 2019 UK Open. Price may have lost last night but his form remains good and he just a night when the doubles didn’t go and he got frustrated against a player who was on fire. Price has won eight of his last ten matches.
Ratajski has won six of his last ten but he hasn’t been at his best for a while now and he will need to be to beat Price.
