Wales v Fiji Tip and Preview Rugby World Cup
Wales v Fiji Tip and Preview Rugby World Cup
As the Pool stages draw to a close things are starting to get serious in the 2019 Rugby World Cup. On Tuesday there will be three matches and two of those will be one sided. Argentina should have far too much for the USA, while Scotland and Russia looks another mismatch. However, the final live match of the day between Wales and Fiji could be a cracker. Check out Dave Stevos Wales v Fiji tip and preview below…
Wales v Fiji Tip and Preview
It is hard to believe that the thrilling 38-34 Fiji win vs Wales was 12 years ago. That match is an all time Rugby World Cup classic and if Wednesday’s game is even half as good we will be in for a treat. Fiji know this is a do or die match for them as a defeat will end their interest in this World Cup. A bonus point victory is the minimum requirement and they will also need Uruguay to do them a favour against Wales.
Wales have already notched up wins vs Georgia and Australia and they are in pole position in the pool. They will be looking to seal top spot and a likely quarter final clash with France. Warren Gatland is taking nothing for granted against Fiji and has named a strong side. Liam Williams, George North and Dan Biggar all start in the backs. They look strong up front too with captain Alun Wyn Jones leading the charge.
Fijian Flyers
The bookies have chalked up Wales as long odds on favourites for this. Bar one hammering in 2011, there has been no more than 10 points between the teams in 4 of their last 5 meetings. After watching Fiji against Georgia, they have the pace and quality to cause Wales a few problems. One man that they will need to keep a close eye on is flying winger Semi Radradra.
Not only is Radrada fast and a lethal finisher, he is a big and powerful player too. He scored two tries vs Georgia and also came up with 3 assists in a virtuoso display. Lock Leone Nakarawa is widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his position too, so Wales will need to be on full alert for a Fijian ambush.
Wales v Fiji Tip
The bookies have been pretty spot on with the handicaps so far in this RWC. They are expecting a Wales win of around 17 points, but we think it could be closer. The weather is forecast to be decent and that will suit the Fijians who like to play with flair. Boylesports are going 17/10 about Fiji + 11 points and that looks a decent bet to us.
However, after his performance against the Georgians we think Semi Radradra could represent value in the anytime try scorer market. He will be full of confidence heading into the match and Fiji will look to get the ball into his hands as often as possible. Our Wales v Fiji tip is Semi Radrada to score a try at any time at odds of 3/1 with Skybet.
