2022 PC Finals Saturday Previews and Tips

After a marathon, 32 match schedule on Friday, we are down to the last 32 now. Get James Punt’s 2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips below.

Ricardo Pietkreczko vs. Callan Rydz

It didn’t take long for the shocks to start yesterday. Pint sized Pietreczko knocked out the number1 seed, camera shy Damon Heta, 6-5. The question now is, can he do it again? Following up one big performance with another is not easy, especially for an inexperienced player. He is in good form having reached the quarter finals of the German Super League and winning six of his last ten pro tour matches, reaching the semi-final of PC28 a month ago, beating Ross Smith 6-1 in the semi-final. Clearly he has the ability but he hasn’t yet developed his consistency.

Callan Rydz beat Razma 6-5 in a very low quality match, Razma only averaging 79, Rydz 88. He has won six of his last ten matches and his form echoes that of Pietreczko as Rydz reached the semi-final of PC27 the day before Pietreczko did in PC28.

There is no H2H form to go on but in Rydz, we have a more experienced player at this level. Rydz is the 1.50 favourite, Pietreczko 2.88. This match will be on the smaller stage 2.

I’ll take a chance that Pietreczko at least making a game of it and hope he doesn’t suffer mental let down.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.05 with Boylesports

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Daryl Gurney

Dirk got his campaign off to a shaky start, going 0-2 down but he gathered himself together to beat Micky Mansell 6-5. It required a good performance from Dirk as Mansell was averaging well over 100 in the first half of the match. He has won seven of his last ten matches.

Superchin has lost six of his last ten matches and he wasn’t in great form when beating Keegan Brown 6-3. He only averaged 82 and Brown 83. He has been scoring a lot better than that in general and I would expect to see a better performance now he has got a win under his belt.

Dirk is the 1.45 favourite, Gurney 2.89. They have only met three times, with Gurney winning two, including their only match in 2022, a 6-3 win on the Euro Tour. None of their matches required more than nine legs.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point under 9.5 legs @ 1.79 with Unibet

Andrew Gilding vs. Keane Barry

Gilding found his summer form to beat Ricky Evans 6-2. He averaged 101 in one of the best performances of the day. Keane Barry also found his best form, perhaps inspired by the return to the venue which gave him his best major tournament result. Gilding is the 1.73 favourite, Barry 2.30.

With both player coming out of a spell of poor form it is hard to be sure if yesterday’s performances will be repeated. There is no H2H form to go on either and it’s a no bet.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: No Bet

Ritchie Edhouse vs. Dimitri van den Bergh

Edhouse pulled of another big surprise, beating Michael Smith 6-5, despite averaging 86 to Smiths 98. Smith does have a poor tournament record but it was hard to see that one coming. Van den Bergh beat Martin Lukeman 6-5 and our selection, Lukeman couldn’t take advantage of a very modest performance from the Belgian, who averaged 88. Van den Bergh has never gone beyond the second round in this before and his H2H record against Edhouse is 1-1, both matches played in 2019 and neither close matches, ending 6-1 and 6-3.

Van den Bergh is not in great form, losing seven of his last ten although his scoring has been good in most. Edhouse has won seven of his last ten matches but his scoring has been poor, his last five matches have seen sub 90 averages.

Edhouse can win ugly, it is his speciality, but how long you can get away with it is the question. If Dimitri finds his scoring boots, he wins this in a canter, if he struggles, then he is playing to Edhouse’s strengths. Edhouse failed to win his second round match here last year, losing 3-6 to Dolan having beaten Dave Chisnall in the first round.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 0.5 point Dimitri van den Bergh to win 6-3 @ 5.50 with Betfred

Krzysztof Ratajski vs. Jose de Sousa

Ratajski beat O’Connor 6-4 for a much needed win. He averaged 91 and was 43% on the doubles. De Sousa beat Jansen 6-2 and didn’t need to get out of first gear to do so. Neither player is in good form and both hard to fancy. Their H2H record is 3-1 to The Polish Eagle.

De Sousa is the 1.73 favourite, Ratajski 2.20. This is too tricky for me. Maybe an unders game but there has to be better opportunities.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: No Bet

Rob Cross vs. Gary Anderson

Anderson just about won our bet yesterday but his 6-4 win over Clemens was hardly inspiring as he averaged just 86. Fifteen missed doubles was the reason, not for the first time.

Cross was solid in his 6-3 win over Doets, but the Dutchman didn’t help himself on the outer ring. Cross averaged 96 and if Anderson is still struggling on the doubles, something similar will be on the cards.

Their H2H record is surprising. 14-2 to Anderson and 7-1 on TV. He has shown some good form of late and Cross has been a model of inconsistency. Cross is the favourite, but given that H2H record, Anderson is the call.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point Gary Anderson to win @ 2.20 generally available

Martin Schindler vs. Chris Dobey

Schindler averaged 102 in his 6-4 win over Vincent van der Voort. We have seen him hit a lot of ton plus averages and we will have been especially happy to beat Vincent who had a good record against him. He now has to beat Dobey to reach the third round for the first time.

Dobey beat Nentjes 6-1 and averaged 95. Solid stuff, but he didn’t have much coming back at him. He will here.

Their H2H record is 3-2 to Dobey but four of the required ten legs or more. Schindler rarely makes things easy for himself and a close match is the call.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Hills, Ladbrokes, Boylesports

Ross Smith vs. Jonny Clayton

The Ferret saved the day for Welsh sports fans, and there were plenty there yesterday. He beat John O’Shea 6-0 averaging 95. O’Shea didn’t hit a double which helped, but it was a much better performance from Clayton than we have been seeing recently.

Ross Smith beat Gian van Veen 6-2 and he had to play well to do so. He was 6/6 on the doubles and he looked in good nick again.

Smith is still rolling and while Clayton has a 3-2 H2H record I’ll go with the player who is feeling the more confident.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point Ross Smith to win @ 2.15 with Ladbrokes

Ryan Joyce vs. Jermaine Wattimena

Ryan Joyce showed real bottle to beat Gerwyn Price 6-5. Good doubling under pressure. He now faces Jermaine Wattimena who beat Brendan Dolan 6-3 and it was another solid performance and his run of decent form continues.

There H2H record is 3-2 to Joyce and they have played four very one sided matches and on 6-5. Past form suggests that one of them will fold like a cheap suit. Two of their five matches have ended 6-1.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point under 9.5 legs @ 1.90 with Unibet
2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 0.5 point Wattimena to win 6-1 @ 21.00 with Betfred

Luke Humphries vs. Mike de Decker

One of our outright selections, Luke Humphries beat Nathan Rafferty 6-3, averaging 97. That is a par performance for Luke these days.

I was very impressed with De Decker yesterday, he beat Jim Williams 6-4 in a good, high quality match. His nickname is The Real Deal and he lived up to it yesterday. However, this is likely to be a step up in class.

These two have met 11 times with Luke winning 8. All but one was on the development tour (the other a Home Tour match).

Humphries is the 1.34 favourite and De Decker 3.40. De Decker will make Humphries work if he plays like he did yesterday, but hopefully Humphries wins. No bet.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: No Bet

Martijn Kleermaker vs. Matt Campbell

Kleermaker dumped Nathan Aspinall out of the tournament, winning 6-4. He only averaged 89 but was 55% on the doubles to Aspinall’s 19%. He hasn’t been in great form and that win was a match lost by Aspinall rather than a win for Kleermaker.

Matt Campbell beat Steve Beaton 6-3 in another match where the player who was better on the doubles won. Beaton was just 25%, Campbell 46%.

Campbell has lost six of his last ten matches, Kleermaker five. There is no H2H form to go on and this is a no bet.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: No Bet

Danny Noppert vs. James Wade

Noppert was player of the day yesterday, averaging 106 in his 6-1 win over Simon Whitlock who averaged 98. It was quality all the way in a match with nine 180’s but Noppert was just deadly on the doubles, hitting six from seven.

Their H2H record is 3-3 and when one of wins, they lose the next meeting. On past form, it is Noppert’s turn to lose.

Wade beat a Mensur Suljovic who appeared to be drunk. It was a bizarre performance from the Austrian and he lost 1-6. Wade only averaged 89, but he could have won playing with two darts.

Noppert is the 1.62 favourite and if he plays anything like he did yesterday, he wins. His three wins over Wade have been 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point Noppert to win -1.5 legs @ 2.00 generally available
2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 0.5 point Noppert to win 6-3 @ 6.50 generally available

Dave Chisnall vs. Scott Williams

There is only one bet to consider here. Both are top 10 for 180’s per leg since the start of October. They hit six between yesterday.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 1 point over 5.5 180’s @ 1.67 with SpreadEx

Cameron Menzies vs. Michael van Gerwen

Menzies was the party pooper yesterday, beating Josh Rock 6-3. He won it fair and square but will he be able to replicate his 98 average against Mighty Mike? He has played him three times and has won once, a 6-4 win in PC4 in February. He has always taken at least three legs off MVG.

MVG was licking his lips after his 6-3 win over Ryan Meikle and not just because he won. He knew that after so many big names had been dumped out, the his chances for title number 7 had just improved, by some margin. The quarter of death now looks like a walk in the park, Danny Noppert excepted.

MVG is the 1.20 favourite, Menzies 5.25.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: 0.5 point MVG to win 6-3 @ 5.00 generally available

Ryan Searle vs. Jamie Hughes

It was a return to form for Searle on home turf, beating Merv King 6-4, averaging 99. More importantly he was 50% on the doubles and that is where he has been struggling.

Yozza beat a very poor Stephen Bunting 6-4 but Hughes will have enjoyed the win, hitting a 150 checkout and hitting four 180’s. It wasn’t a complete performance but a welcome win.

Searle has a 3-1 H2H record over Hughes and he is the 1.57 favourite, Hughes 2.50. This could all be about Searles doubles. If he is back on them like yesterday, he should win, if he slips back into how he has been hitting them recently, Hughes can take advantage. It is a no bet for me.

2022 PC Finals Saturday Tips: No Bet

Joe Cullen vs. Kim Huybrechts

Cullen beat Rodriguez 6-2 but Rowby-John was right off his game and only averaged 78. He missed the board at one point and it wasn’t really a contest.

Huybrechts continued his great record over Raymond van Barneveld, winning 6-4 and averaging 101. That was his first ton plus match since July and I expect a lesser performance today.

Cullen leads Huybrechts 6-5 in the H2H stats and he has won the last three. Those were all played in the last two years, the rest in 2017 or earlier.

Cullen is the 1.47 favourite, Huybrechts 2.90. There’s is not much value here. No bet.
