2024 Belgian Darts Open Saturday Tips

The less said about last night, the better. James Punt is determined to turn things around today, his 2024 Belgian Open Darts Saturday afternoon tips are below.

Luke Woodhouse vs. Ricardo Pietreczko

Woodhouse is on a good run of form. He has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing with a good degree of consistency, averaging low to mid 90s. That is good enough to beat most players, not enough against the very best.

Pietreczko’s form has taken a turn for the worse. His seasonal average is just 88 and he has lost five of his last ten matches. There are some decent performances, but too often his averages are sub 90, and even sub 80.

They have only met once, way back in 2020, which the German won 6-1, Woodhouse being 11% on the doubles. That was then and recent form says that Woodhouse should be the favourite. He is a journeyman pro and underrated as a result.

2024 Belgian Open Darts Saturday Tip: 1 point Luke Woodhouse to win @ 1.95 with Betfred

Ross Smith vs. Jermaine Wattimena

Wattimena beat Daryl Gurney 6-0 yesterday and he prevented the Northern Irishman from even getting a shot at a double. It was a 98 average and a very good performance.

However, Wattimena is not a model of consistency. He has lost five of his last ten matches and his win yesterday came on the back of four straight defeats. Five of his last ten matches have seen averages of 97 or more, four 90 or below.

Ross Smith is the man that plays like a champion and loses. He is one of the heaviest scorers in the game, hits a lot of 180s, but his win rate in 2024 is 50%. Like Wattimena, he has lost five of his last ten matches.

Wattimena leads the H2H stats 4-3. Three of their last four required a deciding leg, the other was a 6-0 win for Smith, but the tendency is for a close match. Smith is getting used to losing close matches.

Danny Noppert vs. Chris Dobey

Dobey played well enough to win his first round match 6-3 against a fairly decent qualifier. He is a heavy scorer and is in good form with eight wins from his last ten matches. His problem is that he throws in a sub 90 average too often, about one in every four recently. That stops him winning titles, but he can win plenty of matches.

Noppert is a bit of a mystery. He is a heavy scorer on the whole but he finds converting that into a lot of wins difficult. His recent form sees five wins from ten, despite eight 96+ averages.

Two players who are not entirely reliable, but Dobey is in better form. Noppert is 5-3 up in the H2Hs and has won four of their last five. That pours cold water on what was going to be a bet on the 1.67 favourite.

2024 Belgian Open Darts Saturday Tip: No Bet

Gary Anderson vs. Andres Harrysson

Harrysson won an extraordinary match with Gian van Veen yesterday. Gian played well, averaged 100, but lost 1-6. Harryson played like Martin Lukeman did against Gary Anderson at the UK Open last weekend. It was finishing from the gods. Four ton plus check outs left Van Veen wondering where the game had gone.

Harrysson ended with a 107 average and nobody was beating him yesterday. The big question is, could he do it again? The answer is probably not. His seasonal average is just 82. Yesterday’s average was a career best and he won’t suddenly have become one of the best players in the world.

Anderson ‘enjoyed’ a similar experience to Van Veen at the UK Open. He was thrashed by Martin Lukeman who was checking out just about everything in front of him. Anderson was standing there with a one dart finish, and Lukeman picked his pocket time after time. It would be cruel if he had that happen to him twice in a row.

Lightning can strike twice, but the odds are very slim. Harrysson’s odds are 5.50, well short of lightning striking twice. No bet.

2024 Belgian Open Darts Saturday Tip: No Bet

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Joe Cullen

Joe Cullen does what he does best, lose me money. Back against him, he wins, back him, he loses. He didn’t just beat Martin Schindler, he thrashed him. A 6-1 win and a 103 average. Whatever he was doing while he took some time out, it helped his game.

However, one swallow doesn’t make a Summer. His form remains questionable with fives defeats in his last ten.

Dirk is equally hard to call. He is on the way back to form. He is nearly fit and he has won seven of his last ten matches. The last thing to come is consistency and that is where Dirk resides right now. 105, 87, 107. Those were the averages of three of his recent matches.

Dirk is 8-4 in their H2H’s but neither player makes an attractive betting proposition right now. No bet.
