2024 Saturday European Darts GP Preview

Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2024 Saturday European Darts GP evening preview. Ritchie Edhouse landed both our bets on him earlier but Chris Dobey crashed out vs Jonny Clayton. We still have Littler, Ross Smith and Josh Rock in the outright market, James’ tips for tonight are below.

Gary Anderson vs. Christian Perez

Anderson will not enjoy the pace of play against the history making Filipino. Perez beat Niels Zonneveld 6-4 yesterday, despite averaging just 88.5 to Zonneveld’s 97.2. That should be a warning for Anderson.

Anderson skipped last weekend’s Euro Tour event following a shoulder problem that had him also miss ET2. He did play in some Players Championship events in between and played well enough. I would have thought that he would not have travelled if he wasn’t fully fit.

Anderson has a huge scoring advantage over Perez, but he will hate the pace of play and that can knock him out of his stride, as will Perez’ antics, like celebrating winning a leg.

Anderson is the massive favourite at 1.20 to Perez at 5.50. I fully expect Anderson to win but will take a chance on Perez rubbing him up the wrong way and winning a few legs.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Christian Perez to win +3.5 legs @ 1.67 with BET365

Gerwyn Price vs. Brendan Dolan

These two meet again. Their last match came just a week ago and it was Price who won 6-4. Price has won six of his last ten matches, is playing well, but lacking a bit of a killer punch.

Dolan beat Andrew Gilding 6-4 yesterday, averaging 97.68. He has won six of his last ten matches and is playing with a good deal of consistency, scoring a lot of mid 90 averages, with a few ton plus ones thrown in.

Dolan rarely makes it past the second round on the Euro Tour, but he will be fully motivated in his quest to close the gap to Daryl Gurney and a place at the World Cup.

Dolan is a bit of a bogeyman for Price having beaten him six times in fourteen matches. However in three of their four Euro Tour matches, Price has won them all, three of them 6-4, the other 6-3.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Gerwyn Price to win 6-4 @ 6.00 generally available
2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Brendan Dolan to win +2.5 legs @ 1.80 with SpreadEx

Michael Smith vs. Raymond van Barnevled

Bully Boy is the 1.50 favourite to win this. His H2H record with Barney is 15-11, but it was RVB who won their most recent match, a 6-3 win in PC5 last month. Barney went on to win the title that day, so he can’t be dismissed out of hand. Smith should win, but he is no great value at 1.50.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: No Bet

Damon Heta vs. Mickey Mansell

Mansell landed our bet yesterday, beating Peter Wright 6-5. It was a poor match, I wasn’t expecting a classic, and a win is a win. Could Mansell bore Heta into submission tonight? Unlikely. Heta is no Peter Wright.

Heta is 5-1 vs. Mansell, so he knows what to expect. Mansell won their first match, but since then, it has been one way traffic and by pretty hefty margins. 25-7 in legs played in their last four matches.

Another comfortable win for the 1.38 favourite, Damon Heta.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 2 points Heta to win -1.5 legs @ 1.67 with Betfred
2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Heta to win 6-2 @ 7.00 with Unibet

Rob Cross vs. Martin Schindler

Martin Schindler showed no signs of any mental let down after his first title win last weekend. He beat Gian van Veen 6-2, averaging 108 and Van Veen averaged 100. It was top quality stuff, and Schindler is riding the wave.

Rob Cross is getting his arse kicked in the Premier League and would like a good run on the Euro Tour to get his season back on track. He doesn’t need this match.

Cross is 7-3 against Schindler, but the diminutive German has won their only previous Euro Tour match, a 6-4 win in 2022.

Schindy will be a different proposition tonight and the big crowd will play their part.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Martin Schindler to win @ 2.00 generally available

Michael van Gerwen vs. Johan Engstrom

Engstrom thrashed Joe Cullen 6-1 yesterday and it was no fluke, he averaged 99.14. The market has decided that it was just a flash in the pan and Engstrom is the 9.00 outsider. It was at the very high end of his scoring spectrum and he has just one other win on the Euro Tour in the last six years.

I’ll give this one to MVG.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: No Bet

Luke Humphries vs. Luke Littler

Littler had a nice warm up match yesterday, beating a local qualifier 6-0 and averaging 101. Littler has got Humphries’ number. Since losing the World Championship final at the start of January, these two have met six times, and Littler has won all six.

Humphries has seen his form take a bit of a dip in recent weeks, losing four of his last ten matches, including a 5-6 to Littler. Five of the six Littler wins have been 6-5, and we can expect another close one.

Humphries is the 1.83 favourite, Littler 2.10. I don’t know why, I’d have Littler as favourite. Over 9.5 legs looks the sensible option.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betfair
2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Littler to win 6-5 @ 7.50 with Betfair

Riccardo Pietreczko vs. Gabriel Clemens

The all German showdown to see who makes the final day. Their H2H record is 2-1 to Pietreczko and all three have been fairly close affairs, all over 9.5 legs.

Pietreczko played well last weekend but lost in the third round to Price, despite a 102.6 average. Clemens is not in good form, losing six of his last ten matches, four of which have seen sub 90 averages.

Pietreczko is the 2.06 outsider, I think he should be favourite.

2024 Saturday European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Ricardo Pietreczko to win @ 2.06 with Unibet
