2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Preview
James turned a small profit again this afternoon. Check out his 2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday preview and tips below.
Afternoon Reflections
It was a modest 0.75 point profit in this afternoon’s session. One more session to try and dig out a few more winners.
Josh Rock vs. Dave Chisnall
Chizzy was gifted a 6-5 win by Alan Soutar last night. Soots’ doubling, normally a good part of his game, was dreadful, and Chisnall wasn’t much better. Chisnall has won six of his last ten matches, but he does struggle at this stage of Euro Tour events. He has played eight and lost six.
These two have not played since 2023 and that was when Chisnall was still a top player. Chisnall has won six of their nine matches, but the form is old and not very relevant. Rock is not in great form, losing five of his last ten matches but on the Euro Tour, he is 7-3 in the second round.
Rock is the 1.36 favourite, Chisnall 3.40. Rock should win but his odds make no appeal. Rock has won three of his last six second matches 6-3 and that kind of scoreline seems likely.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Josh Rock to win 6-3 @ 5.50 generally available
Stephen Bunting vs. Jeffrey de Graaf
De Graaf played well enough to beat Sietse Lap 6-4. It was a solid 94.24 average, with five 180s, but his doubles were not great at 27%. De Graaf has won six of his last ten matches, but consistency is not one of his strengths. He has played two second round matches in 2026 and got stuffed in both, 1-6 and 2-6. Those were to Van Veen and Ross Smith.
Stephen Bunting has lost six of his last ten matches. He too is lacking much in the way of consistency, or confidence. He has won six of his eleven second round matches in 2026.
The H2H record is 3-2 to De Graaf. Bunting won their only match in 2026 3-1 at the Masters. De Graaf beat Bunting in the final of PC24 last year and he is 2-1 on the Euro Tour.
Under Pressure
Bunting is under pressure. He is sitting in 32nd place in the Euro Tour O.O.M and he can’t afford to lose. Karel Sedlacek and Michael Smith both winning means that Bunting has company for that final berth in Dortmund.
Bunting is the 1.70 favourite, De Graaf 2.38. If De Graaf can hit more of his doubles, he can put pressure on Bunting and that might be enough. However, his dismal round 2 record is enough for me to say no bet.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: No Bet
James Wade vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode
The H2H record here is a very surprising 9-4 to Dirk, and he has won their last four in a row. However, Wade is in top form right now, Dirk, not so much.
Dirk beat Bruno Stöckli 6-3 yesterday and he was up against it for a while. He started off playing rubbish and was 1-2 down, but he got his act together and fought off a surprisingly strong local qualifier. Dirk has won six of his last ten matches, Wade eight.
Wade is playing with more consistency and Dirk is all over the place. Van Duijvenbode can kick off and be brilliant, or he can blow a fuse and be very poor. This match could be anything and as we are on Wade outright, I am not going to get involved in a match that could be anything.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: No Bet
Jonny Clayton vs. Maik Kuivenhoven
Kuivenhoven had an easy time when beating a hopeless RVB. It was an OK performance by Kuivenhoven who is making a rare appearance in round two. He has only played one second round match in 2026 and lost 4-6 to James Wade. He has played a total of seven in his career and lost them all. His recent form is poor, losing six from his last ten matches.
We are on Clayton outright and this should be a nice opening match. He is the 1.30 favourite and is 5-1 vs. Kuivenhoven. They last played at the World Series Finals and Clayton won that 6-3. That is has been the score in two of their last three matches and it could be once again.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Jonny Clayton to win 6-3 @ 5.50 with SpreadEx
Michael van Gerwen vs. Mensur Suljovic
Interesting. MVG’s confidence is in tatters and the other players are relishing playing him these days.
Suljovic rarely gets to play on the Euro Tour anymore, and he was happy to have beaten György Jehirszki 6-3 last night. It was an ordinary game and he will need to up his game here, and he probably will. Mensur has won six of his last ten matches, but five saw sub 90 averages.
MVG has lost six of his last ten matches, but he has fared better in his second-round matches on the Euro Tour, winning eight from eleven, but they have become increasingly more difficult.
Their H2H record is 20-8 to MVG, but Mensur has won their last three, including their only match in 2026, a 6-4 win back in May.
MVG is the 1.44 favourite, Mensur 2.75. It isn’t huge value, but Suljovic is being backed and no doubt he will be using all of his dark arts to wind MVG up.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point Mensur Suljovic to win @ 2.75 generally available
Luke Humphries vs. Kevin Doets
Match of the day? It should be. Two heavy hitters going toe to toe in a short format.
Humphries has won eight of his last ten matches and comes here on the back of winning the Grand Prix last weekend. He has skipped many of the Euro Tour events in 2026 but he has won three of his four second round matches.
Doets beat Nick Kenny 6-3 last night. It was an OK performance, but he wasn’t great on the doubles with a 29% checkout rate. Doets has won seven of his last ten matches but his last six have not been anywhere near his best.
Their H2H record is 5-1 to Humphries. Doets’ only win was on the development tour back in 2019. They last met in this year’s World Championship which Humphries won 4-1.
Humphries is the 1.44 favourite, Doets 3.00. I would say that given Doets rather average recent performances and their H2H record, Humphries should cover the handicap.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point Luke Humphries to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Hills, Betfred
Gian van Veen vs. Niko Springer
Springer gets to play his favoured underdog role here, having been a heavy favourite last night. He beat Roman Wellinger 6-1, with both players averaging less than 80. I am sure we will see a better version of Springer tonight.
However, Springer is not in good form overall, losing six of his last ten matches. He had a good run earlier in the season, beating Bunting, MVG, Anderson and Nijman in second round matches, but he has lost his last four round two matches, including one to Van Veen, 3-6.
Van Veen Getting Closer
Gian van Veen has won eight of his last ten matches and while his consistency isn’t quite there yet, he is getting closer to his best form.
These two have only met three times at senior level with Van Veen winning twice. Van Veen is the 1.50 favourite, Springer 2.75. Given their relative recent form, I have to think that Van Veen will win this, probably with something in hand.
Under 9.5 legs (all three senior matches have been) is 1.80, but I will go for a repeat of their last second round match. Van Veen has won two of his last four second round matches 6-3.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Gian van Veen to win 6-3 @ 6.00 with Betfred
Danny Noppert vs. Damon Heta
Noppert has won five of his last ten matches and is struggling with a lack of confidence rather than playing poorly. He has a good second round record, winning ten from thirteen. Damon Heta has also won five of his last ten matches and that reflects his lack of consistency. His second-round record is played eleven and won five.
Their H2H record is 4-2 to Noppert. They have not played this season and only met once last year. That was a 6-5 win for Noppert.
Noppert is the 1.91 favourite, Heta 2.00. Noppert gets the nod.
2026 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point Danny Noppert to win @ 1.91 with Betvictor, BET365
No more darts this weekend as it is an F1 race day tomorrow. Next week there is a rare week with no F1 and there will be full coverage of the final Euro Tour event of the year, the Dutch Darts Championship.
