Euro 2020 Matchday 10 Previews and Tips
It was a mixed bag for us on Matchday 9. The first half France vs Hungary match unfolded exactly as I hoped. However, in the 2nd minute of injury time the Hungarians managed to grab a goal against the run of play, ruining our draw HT/France FT bet. Germany got the job done for us though. We were on them and both teams to score at 15/4 and they won 4-2. Luck was against us in the Spanish match. A missed penalty at 1-1 and a string of spurned chances cost us our Spain/btts bet. Switzerland v Turkey
Match Odds: Switzerland 4/6; Draw 3/1; Turkey 17/4.
Venue: Baku, Azerbaijan.
Kick Off Time: 5.00 pm.
This bottom of the table clash will decide who finishes 3rd. A win for Switzerland would see them finish with 4 points and they would almost certainly go through to the knockout stages. Turkey have been the biggest disappointments at Euro 2020. They are bottom with 0 points but the way this tournament is set up means they would still have an outside chance of qualifying with a win and 3 points.
Switzerland started off with a solid performance and a 1-1 draw vs Wales. Embolo got the goal and he has looked their best player. They were badly outclassed last time, losing 3-0 to a slick Italian side. Turkey also lost 3-0 to Italy in their opener. However, they were expected to bounce back vs Wales and instead, they capitulated and lost 2-0. Whether it’s a mental thing with them I am not sure, but they have simply failed to turn up at this tournament.
Can they be as poor again in this last game? Well, there were no positives to take from either of their matches and you couldn’t back them with any confidence. The Swiss at least showed glimpses of quality against Wales and Italy and if they can provide Embolo with some decent service he could cause Turkey plenty of problems. A draw would be no good to either team so both sides will likely go all out for the win. Switzerland deserve to be favourites and I think they can get the job done. Embolo netted their only goal so far vs Wales when he was man of the match and I am backing him to score again and Switzerland to win at odds of 5/2.

Italy v Wales
Match Odds: Italy 1/2; Draw 3/1; Wales 15/2.
Venue: Rome, Italy.
Kick Off Time: 5.00 pm.
The winner of this match will finish on top of Group A. Italy are in pole position with 2 wins and 6 points. Wales are also unbeaten after two games with 4 points. Italy have been the team of the tournament so far. They have played an exciting brand of high-energy, possession based football and their pressing has been excellent too. Wales put in a below par display in their opener but it was much more like it last time vs Turkey.
The days of Italy scoring first and then shutting up shop to defend their lead are gone. Roberto Mancini has this team playing some wonderful stuff. Insigne and Immobile have lit the tournament up and Spinazzola has been sensational raiding down the left flank. Locatelli and Jorginho have run the show in midfield and they are one of the tournament favourites now. Wales are well on their way to the knockout stages. Bale and Ramsey have hit top form and big man Kieffer Moore has made an impact up front.
I can see both managers making lots of changes for this match. Italy obviously have a much deeper squad than Wales and if both teams rotate, the Italian’s second string will be stronger. However, they may not have the fluency or fluidity of the first 11 and Wales will work their socks off to try and get a point. A draw would see both teams go through to the next stage in 1st and 2nd. When a certain result suits two teams, it can often turn out that way. At odds of 3/1, I am backing the draw.
