2026 PL Darts Night 14 Preview
This week we head to Leeds and Luke Humphries will be aiming to please the baying mob. James Punt’s 2026 PL Darts Night 14 preview and tips are below.
Night 13 Reflections
Night 13 saw an almost imperceptible 0.22 point profit, but at least it wasn’t a loss. The tournament tally now stands at -11.60.
The PL roadshow heads to Leeds and sort of a home gig for Luke Humphries. He isn’t from Leeds, but is a big Leeds Utd supporter, and we know there is a big football – darts fans crossover. But did you know, that Luke’s Dad named his son ‘Luke’ because it stands for Leeds Utd Kings of Europe? It’s a bit sadly really.
Leeds Utd Kings of Europe will need all the help from the crowd that he can get, and I expect a special Leeds Utd themed darts shirt tonight. Humphries got three points for reaching the final last week, but he remains two points outside of the top four places. He has played here in Leeds twice and won both nights.
Littler and Clayton are already confirmed semi-finalists and while mathematically the remaining six players can still qualify, Rock and Bunting are 10 and 7 points behind respectively. The final two places look to be between Price on 21 points, MVG on 18 and Van Veen and Humphries on 16.
Gerwyn Price vs. Jonny Clayton
Clayton could do his Welsh World Cup teammate a favour here and lose, but I guess The Ferret would rather try and win the league and then face the ‘weakest qualifier’ in the semi-final.
The real problem for Clayton is their H2H record. These two have met forty two times, and Price has won thirty. In this year’s PL it is 1-1, but when they last met, Price was unwell, underperformed, and lost 3-6. I would say that was not a good form guide. That was Clayton’s only win against Price in thirteen matches.
Both players skipped this week’s Players Championship events, and both are in reasonable form, winning six of their last ten. In their last ten best of 11 leg matches, Price has covered a -1.5 leg handicap eight times.

Luke Littler vs. Michael van Gerwen
Littler has played PL darts only for the last two months now, and has won eight of his last ten matches, which is very good at this level. MVG has cast his net a bit wider. He played in this week’s Players Championships, and has also played four Euro Tour events. He has lost five of his last ten. He has played some good stuff, but nowhere near as consistently as Littler.
Their H2H record is 16-10 to Littler and in this year’s PL it is 3-1 to Littler. All four have been over 9.5 legs, and so long as MVG can play his A game, which he does quite often, not necessarily with a win, he can give Littler a game. He’ll likely lose it, but hopefully it will be a game. Eight of their last ten best of eleven leg matches have been over 9.5 legs.

Josh Rock vs. Luke Humphries
Josh Rock is really just playing for pride now, and that means the pressure is off. Overall, he has lost seven of his last ten matches, and lost six of his last ten PL matches. If anything, his PL play is a little better than on the Pro Tour.
Luke Humphries has enjoyed playing here, winning the night on both appearances. He will be hoping for, and indeed needing to, have another good night. Humphries has lost five of his last ten matches overall, but he remains one of the heaviest scorers out there.
In the PL he is averaging 100.50, bettered only by Littler. His problem is his doubling. His checkout rate in the PL is 37.26%, only sixth best in the league, but it is still better than Rock’s 32.04%.
Slower Pace
Humphries slowed his pace of play right down last week, really trying to find the doubles. He averaged 101.39 across his three matches and only just lost the final 5-6 to Littler. It worked. He also went back to his usual set of darts having changed flights and stems in an unsuccessful attempt to improve his doubling.
As ever, if Humphries is having a decent day on the doubles, he really should win, and today, he is playing one of the two players who have been worse on the doubles than he has.
Their H2H record is 5-3 to Humphries and he has won their last four. They have met just once in the PL and that was a 6-2 win for Humphries on Night 3 in Glasgow.
Humphries is the 1.45 favourite, Rock 2.75. In three of their four best of eleven leg matches, three have been 6-2 wins for Humphries.

Gian van Veen vs. Stephen Bunting
Van Veen didn’t play in this week’s Players Championships, which was a pain as it would have given us a better guide to his form. He had lost it quite badly and overall, he has lost six of his last ten matches.
However, last Thursday, he hit back to back ton plus averages and looked much more like his old self. A few more matches would have validated it, or not. Like Humphries, this is pretty much a must win match, so the pressure is on.
Bunting is on a poor run of results, losing seven of his last ten matches. In the Pl he has lost his last three quarter-final matches. On eleven points, he is not quite out of the running, but he needs wins and plenty of them, so he is still under some pressure.
His scoring is OK, but even when he hits his A game he has been losing, such as a 104.81 average and a 1-6 loss to Rock three weeks ago. He averaged 97.02 in a 5-6 loss to Price last week.
Their H2H record is 7-5 to Bunting and in the PL, 1-1. Both were one-sided affairs, ending 6-3 and 6-2. I am going to take a chance that Van Veen is back to somewhere close to his best form, and back a handicap win.

I am away on holiday next week, so there will be no Night 15 preview. Your betting accounts will probably thank me.
