Euro 2024 Betting Odds – Outright

First of all, the Euro 2024 outright betting odds. Gareth Southgate’s England currently head the betting at 4.30 but Jan has a pretty strong opinion on their prospects. More on that later. France have proven trophy winning credentials and they are next best at around 5.00.

Germany (6.50), Spain (10.00) and Portugal (9.00) are the only other teams chalked up at single figure prices. There might be some value in those odds…

As you can see, Jan Keys’ number one rated teams are France and Germany at 9.70. Germany are priced up at 6.50 and France are 5.00, so you’d have to think the value lies with Julian Nagelsmann’s men.

He only makes England the joint second rated team alongside Spain. With the Spaniards backable at over double the odds of England at 10.00, they look well worth chancing in the outright winner market.

Euro 2024 Dark Horses

Are there any teams at double figure odds that could do what Greece did in 2004? Italy emerged victorious at the last Euros but they don’t come into this tournament in the same sort of form. Belgium’s ‘golden generation’ are more ‘golden oldies’ now and it seems as though their chance of winning at a major tournament has passed them by.

One team that seems to come into every tournament under the radar is Croatia. Zlatko Dalic’s men reached the semi finals in Qatar, knocking out Brazil in the last 8, and ended up with the third place medals.

Their talisman Luka Modric is now 38 but they’ve got legs around him and his experience, along with Brozovic and Perisic, could prove valuable. Josko Gvardiol is now established as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and while they have no superstars up front, Kramaric and Petkovic are both capable of finding the back of the net.

Jan Keys’ Euro 2024 Betting Tips

Back – Spain 1 pt @ 10.3 (Betfair Exchange)

Topped their qualifying group, winning seven out of eight and finishing four points clear of Scotland. They ooze class, they will dominate possession against most opponents and that ability to control games has to be a big advantage in terms of conserving energy for the latter stages.

They are in the ‘Group of Death’ alongside Italy, Croatia and Albania but if they can navigate their way through those choppy waters,  Jan thinks they could go all the way.

Back – Germany 1 pt @ 6.68 (Betfair Exchange)

Usually regulars in the latter stages of major tournaments, that hasn’t been the case for a few years. They have undergone a period of transition since the departure of Joakim Low and they have had some excellent results and performances in the build up, beating France 2-0 and Holland 2-1. Are the Germans back? It certainly looks like they might be.

Most importantly, they have home advantage and that has to be a big plus for them. Back them at odds of 6.68 on the Machine.

Back – Croatia 0.5 pt @ 49.00 (Betfair Exchange)

Since their sensational debut at Euro 96, Croatia have made a habit of outperforming their pre-tournament odds at major tournaments. For a country with a population of around 4 million they consistently punch above their weight and they have twice finished third at the World Cup, including at the last one in 2022.

Their record at the Euros isn’t quite as impressive, a quarter final appearance in 2008 is the best they have managed. However, if they can get out of a tough group no team will look forward to playing them. Admittedly, recent results haven’t been brilliant but they usually show up when it matters.

Lay – England @ 4.20 (Betfair Exchange)

Gareth Southgate announced his provisional squad today and boy is it stuffed full of talent. ‘Safegate’, as he is known in some quarters, has dropped some of his previous favourites like Rashford & Sterling and players like Bowen and Eze have been rewarded for having excellent seasons in the Premier League.

However, Southgate’s conservative style has cost England at previous tournaments, especially when his team failed to go for the jugular after opening the scoring against Italy in the last Euro final. Jan Keys doesn’t think football will be coming home this time either and he is recommending laying England at odds of 4.20.
