Friday Evening International Darts Open Tips

We were out of luck with both bets this afternoon but James is keen to get back in the groove tonight. Check out his Friday Evening International Darts Open tips below.

Lewy Williams vs. Dennis Nilsson

Relative newcomer Williams looks to have good potential. He got his tour card last January and beat Van den Bergh, Kim Huybrechts and MVG in his first three players championship matches. He played in one euro tour event last year, reaching the last 16 and beating Ratajski in the second round. Like all the younger players, consistency is lacking, but the talent is definitely there.

Nilsson now plies his trade on the Nordic Baltic tour on a part time basis, so this will be a step up in class, but Nilsson is a veteran, and this will be nothing new for him. He is averaging 80 in 2022, some 10 points shy of Williams 2022 average.

Williams is the 1.33 favourite which looks about right, and this is not a match that offers any great opportunity.

Merv King vs. Janos Vegso

King has not started 2022 in any great form, losing six of his last ten matches, having a win rate of just 38% and averaging just 86.9.

Hungarian qualifier Vegso plays in the Hungarian Super League, averaging 78.6 and he has played three euro tour tournaments before, losing all three first round matches.

It is hard to see King getting very far given his poor form, but his C game should still be good enough. Odds of 1.17 are, of course, of no interest.

Florian Hempel vs. Kim Huybrechts

Hempel has made quite an impression since he came on the scene last year. He was runner up in the German Super League and started playing on the pro tour after that. Hempel knocked Peter Wright out of the European Championship and had a good run in the World Championship, reaching the last 16, beating Schindler and Van den Bergh. He has played four euro tour events and won three of his first round matches but his 2022 form has been poor, playing nine and losing six, averaging 88.6.

Huybrechts, a two time semi-finalist here, is in good form, averaging 94.1, winning 64% of his matches in 2022 and winning eight of his last ten.

Huybrechts is the 1.60 favourite which looks about right. It is hard to get grip on Hempel as he is not in great form, but he is the home favourite and he likes the bright lights of the stage. However, he is going to have to find his A game tonight.

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Martin Lukeman

One of our outright selections, Van den Bergh, faces what could be a stiff test here. Martin Lukeman is in great form, winning eight of his last ten matches and 69% of his matches in 2022. He got his tour card last year and struggled at pro tour level, winning just 17 players championship matches all year, but he got better late in the season, reaching the semi-final of PC22 and his confidence improved after that.

Van den Bergh is averaging seven points more than Lukeman in 2022 and has won seven of his last ten, reaching the final of PC4 two weeks ago. He had a poor end to 2021 but has started 2022 in better form. He is the 1.17 favourite and hopefully he justifies those odds and move on to the next round.

Rob Cross vs. Krzysztof Kciuk

Another big favourite in the shape of reigning European Champion, Rob Cross. He is just 1.27 to defeat Poland’s Kciuk. They have met just once, in 2019 and Cross won 6-3. Cross has won seven of his last ten matches and is averaging 96 in 2022. Kciuk is averaging just 88.6 in 2022 and has lost six of his last nine matches. This should be a routine win for Cross.

Gabriel Clemens vs. Nico Kurz

Yet another German opponent for Clemens on the euro tour. He has faced four Germans in the euro tour first round and won the lot. He has also won his last seven euro tour first round matches. The German Giant is in poor form however, losing six of his last ten matches and he is averaging 88 in 2022. He is there for the taking, but can Kurz take advantage?

Stylish Nico Kurz didn’t get a tour card at Q school but came through the qualifying event yesterday. He only averaged 83 in that qualifier but in the three euro tour qualifiers played yesterday, he played 12 and won 10. His average in 2022 is just 82.4 but we have seen him play a lot better than that. He reached the last 32 in the 2019 World Championship and has won two of three euro tour first round matches.

An out of form Clemens vs. a low scoring Kurz is hardly a mouth-watering prospect but one of them has to win. Clemens is the 1.48 favourite, unbackable given his form, with Kurz 3.10. It could be a scrappy affair if neither gets a grip on the game.

Simon Whitlock vs. Dragutin Horvat

The Wizard is in poor form, losing seven of his last ten matches and is facing a reasonably experienced German opponent in the shape of Horvat. Dragutin has played 12 euro tour events, reached one quarter final in 2016, but he has lost eight first round matches. He played in the German qualifying events yesterday, winning eleven from twelve matches, so he will be feeling pretty confident, something that Whitlock will not be.

Whitlock, even this version, is a heavier scorer than Horvat, and if he takes his chances on the doubles he should win, but his last six matches have seen a checkout rate of just 25%. Any more of that and he could be in trouble.

Friday Evening International Darts Open tips: 1 point Dragutin Horvat to win @ 4.55 with Unibet

Danny van Trijp vs. Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith is making another expensive trip across the pond, and he needs to start making some cash to justify it. He has lost six of his last ten matches and he needs to start cashing in if he is to keep his card. He is averaging just 88.3 so far in 2022. Smith has played just the one euro tour event before, winning his first round match 6-5 against Franz Rötzsch in 2020.

Van Trijp is the Associated Member qualifier, and he plays on the Challenge Tours in Europe and the UK, winning five of his last ten. This will be his second ever euro tour event and he won his first round match, 6-5 against Keegan Brown in 2019.

Smith is the 1.44 favourite, Trijp 3.20. This could be another grotty match in which one of them will fall over the line.
