RWC Day 3 Tips and Preview

Australia covered the 14 point handicap for us comfortably on Saturday, winning 39-21. France and Argentina was close, just as we predicted, but the French came away with a narrow 2 point win. South Africa were very disappointing against a clinical New Zealand side. The Springboks dominated field position and possession for long spells, but they didn’t score enough points. The action continues in Japan on Sunday, check out our RWC Day 3 Tips below…

06.15 am Pool B: Italy vs Namibia

Italy come into this tournament on the back of a poor 6 Nations campaign. They lost all five matches and they suffered a couple of heavy warm up losses to France and England. However, they are heavy favourites here and they will expect to win easily vs Namibia. Sergio Parisse is now 36 but he is still the Italian captain and an inspirational figure. Tommaso Allan will start at fly half and they have the experience of Jayden Hayward at full back.

Namibia are a tier two rugby nation and they will be up against it here. They have appeared at 5 Rugby World Cups and they have yet to win a game. Their record is played 19, lost 19 with a points difference of -934! They failed to score a single point when they lost 20-0 to Russia back in June. The result of this match is not in question as Italy will win. The question is how big will the margin be? Italy beat Russia 85-15 last month so they are capable of putting up big scores against minnows. We reckon it is worth backing Italy -39 at odds of 21/10 with Ladbrokes.

RWC Day 3 Tips: Italy -39 @ 21/10 Ladbrokes

08.45 am Pool A: Ireland v Scotland

The best match of the day on Sunday is this all 6 Nations clash between Ireland and Scotland. These teams know each other inside out and Ireland have had the upper hand in recent meetings. Ireland have won 6 of the last 7 clashes between the teams, but Scotland will draw hope from their 27-22 win in 2017. Joe Schmidt’s men were touted by many as potential World Cup winners after they beat New Zealand a year ago. However, their form has gone downhill since then, culminating in a record breaking loss to England last month.

Scotland finished the 6 Nations with a brilliant display when drawing 38-38 with England in Twickenham. They got a good warm up win against France last month and on their day, Scotland are a decent side. Hogg is a top class performer at full back and Finn Russell has become a quality fly half. Ireland are without Kearney, Henshaw and Earls and they are all big losses. Ireland are under huge pressure as the number one ranked team and they rarely coped well when they were favouirtes at previous Rugby World Cups. We recommend a bet on Scotland +8 at 11/10 with Bet365.

RWC Day 3 Tips: 11.15 am Pool B: England v Tonga

We rated England as one of the biggest dangers in our outright preview. They face Rugby World Cup regulars Tonga in their opening match. The Tongans have won 7 of their previous 24 World Cup matches. Their biggest ever win came when they shocked France in 2011. However, they are unlikely to cause a similar upset against England. They do possess a world class back in Telusa Veainu and plenty of their players play their club rugby at a high level. However, their 92-7 loss to New Zealand shows where they stand in the pecking order.

England boss Eddie Jones will be hoping his England team win this match and avoid injuries. Jones has named a strong team. Itoje, Lawes and Vunipola are a formidable force in the pack. Ford and Youngs start in the half back positions, with Farrell and Tuilagi in the centre. In the past year England have put up scores of 50+ vs Ireland and Italy and 40+ points vs France. We think they can rack up even more points against Tonga and we recommend backing England -49.5 points at 161/100.

RWC Day 3 Tips: England -49.5 points @ 161/100 Marathonbet
