Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Open Tips

James Punt kept things ticking over with another couple of winners on Saturday evening, including a lovely bet on Steve Beaton to win at 3.20. Things got a bit tougher afterwards but it has still been a pretty profitable tournament so far. Check out James’ Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Open tips below.

Luke Humphries vs. Dimitri van den Bergh

Humphries snuffed out a resurgent Daryl Gurney with an emphatic 6-1 win. Humphries averaged 98.8 and was 40% in his doubles, a very decent performance, helped by the fact that Gurney hit just one of his ten doubles.

Van den Bergh had to work hard to beat Ritchie Edhouse 6-3 and his performance was also decent, a 97.7 average and 46% on the doubles.

Both players are in good form, Luke winning seven of his last ten and Dimitri six. Their H2H record  is 8-4 to Humphries and he has won the last five in a row, including a 6-5 win two weeks ago in PC2. They met on the euro tour once last year and Humphries won 6-4. He has won all four of their best of 11 leg matches.

Humphries has strong positive mental associations with the euro tour having picked up four titles last year and he especially enjoys his trips to Germany where he has won three of his euro tour titles.

That fact and their recent H2H form says that Humphries looks to be the more likely winner.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: 1 point Luke Humphries to win @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes

Michael Smith vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode

Smith played with a wrist injury last night. He still beat Nico Springer 6-4 but he didn’t look at all comfortable. How will he be feeling today? Who knows. If it is another gout attack, it won’t have cleared up overnight and he is hard to back with such a big question mark over his fitness to play. He has a 11-3 H2H record against Dirk despite Van Duijvenbode being one of the few players who is a heavier scorer than him. Their H2H record has been closer in recent years and their last four matches sees two wins each.

Van Duijvenbode is the 2.45 outsider, despite Smiths injury and I would say the bookies are taking a risk here. Yes. Dirk didn’t play well in his 6-3 win over Veenstra but he is often a slow starter.

We are on Dirk outright which is enough interest for me in a match in which an injury worry is such an unknown factor.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: No Bet

Ryan Searle vs. Martijn Dragt

Despite his poor Euro Tour form, Searle looked in a determined mood yesterday, beating Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-1. He says he wants to start winning euro tour titles and with a PC title already under his belt in 2023, he is in good form.

Dragt has beaten Ricky Evan and Rob Cross already but surely his run ends here. He is only averaging 89 and Searle should be able to overpower him.

Searle is the 1.22 favourite and it’s hard to see any value in this match. No bet.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: No Bet

Peter Wright vs. Keegan Brown

Brown beat one of our ante post selections, Danny Noppert 6-3 yesterday. Noppert just didn’t fire, and Brown won despite averaging 90.3.  Brown can play better than that and he is a player who can have very unexpected good runs, but he doesn’t look to have the game to beat even a Wright who is in questionable form.

It was a rare win for Wright when he beat James Wade 6-3. For once Wade was just very poor on his doubles with a 21% checkout rate. His H2H record against Brown is 8-5 but most of Brown’s wins came in 2014 -2015. They have already meet once in 2023 and Wright won 6-3. Something similar is likely today. Brown shouldn’t have the fire power to live with Wright, but Snakebite’s confidence is a bit fragile and small stakes only for him.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: 0.5 point Peter Wright to win 6-3 @ 5.25 with Fitzdares

Stephen Bunting vs. Jonny Clayton

We saw Daryl Gurney break a long losing run against Gabriel Clemens on Friday night and last night it was Bunting’s turn to end his ten match losing run vs. MVG. How will he react to that? There has been plenty of players who have beat Van Gerwen only to play poorly in their next game. The old mental let down can kick in after an important win or performance. However, maybe beating MVG isn’t as important as it once was. It was a good performance by Bunting who is a more confident player these days.

Jonny Clayton steamrolled Ted Evetts with a 97 average and a 6-1 win. He doesn’t mess about against weaker players. Their H2H record is 10-6 to Clayton, but he lost to Bunting two weeks ago with a 6-5 loss on the pro tour. Clayton is 1-0 on the euro tour, a 6-2 win last year, and Bunting has lost three of their four matches on stage.

Clayton is the 1.72 favourite which looks spot on and it is hard to see any great value here.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: No Bet

Steve Beaton vs. Joe Cullen

Steve Beaton gave us a nice 3.20 winner last night when he came from behind to beat Nathan Aspinall 6-5, taking the lead with his final dart of the match. Never in doubt. He was some way shy of his 106 average of the first round but he will be delighted to have made the final day.

Joe Cullen had to work hard to beat Arron Monk, who averaged 98.4, by six legs to four. He missed too many doubles for my liking but his scoring was good and he hit five 180’s.

Their H2H record is 7-4 to Cullen. They met a week ago on the pro tour and Cullen won 6-3. There was seven 180’s in that match and Beaton has hit two in his first two matches. Cullen is one of the big 180 hitters and I’ll go for over on the maximums.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: 1 point over 5.50 180s @ 2.45 with Ladbrokes

Damon Heta vs. Martin Schindler

Schindler continues to search for his first PDC title while Heta is trying to win more often. Their H2H record is 3-2 to Heta, But Schindler has won their last two. They met in a euro tour quarter final last May and Heta won that 6-5.

Heta is the better player, a heavier scorer, but both are big 180 hitters at a combined 0.62 per leg over the last 12 months. They hit eight in that euro tour match last year and this looks like an overs bet again.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: 1 point over 5.5 180’s @ 1.66 with SpreadEx

Gerwyn Price vs. Dave Chisnall

Price was in top form when beating Graham Usher 6-2. It was a 109 average and he looks like he wants to win this title to help him manage his schedule, miss out on more euro tour event until after the PL is finished, which is exactly what he did last year.

Chizzy averaged 100 in his 6-2 win over Lewy Williams and he will be no push over for Price.

Their H2H record is 7-5 to Price and he has won four of their last five. They met three times last year and all three where close matches. Two heavy scorers in decent form means we should get a good match, but Price is the better player these days. Hopefully he prevails 6-4 or 6-5.

Sunday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.00 with Ladbrokes, Fitzdares
