Wilder v Fury 2 Preview and Tip

The most anticipated rematch in heavyweight boxing for years takes place in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning. Their first fight was as dramatic as boxing gets so hopefully we see more of the same here. It is a classic clash of styles, the power puncher vs the slick boxer. This is a fight you won’t want to miss and our resident boxing analyst Kelly Eden has a strong opinion. He tipped up the Draw last time at 40/1, so his opinion is well worth listening to. Check out his Wilder v Fury 2 preview and tip below…

Wilder v Fury 2 Preview

The re-match the boxing world has been waiting for, since the draw between the pair in December 2018. When I say draw, that was the judges verdict. Most boxing fans who saw the fight agree that Fury won the fight – some saying he outboxed Wilder by 8/9 rounds.

A mixture of the fight being in the US, home judges and the fact that Wilder knocked Fury down twice probably swayed the judges into scoring it a draw. That famous 12th round knockdown that somehow Fury got off up off the canvas and fought back from probably influenced the judges too. The rest is history though, the judges scored it a draw  and at least TXMarkets customers were happy as we tipped the draw at 40/1.

Eye Injury Could Hamper Fury

14 months later, we go again. Wilder has had two fights since, with ko’s over Breazeale and Ortiz, looking comfortable in both fights. The 34 year old has now had 42 fights, with 41 ko’s and 1 draw. At 6’7″ he is 2 inches shorter than Fury, and his reach of 83″ is also 2 inches shorter.

Fury has also had two fights, but lesser opponents in the TKO of Schwarz and a hard fought points win over Wallin, in which Fury required surgery after an eye cut. At 31 years old, he is unbeaten after 29 fights, with 20 ko’s and 1 draw. He has ditched trainer Ben Davison in favour of Sugarhill Steward who has a reputation for adding power to his fighter’s arsenals.

Wilder v Fury 2 Tip

The puncher v the boxer in which the bookies have Wilder as slight favourite. I disagree and had Wilder as a 4/6 shot. Evens in my opinion is massive. I think Wilder underestimated Fury in the first fight and will be better prepared for his boxing skills and jab this time.

Fury has been to hell and back in 3 years. I wonder if the eye injury could resurface. He is also without ex-trainer Davison who was his rock for 3 years. Unconfirmed rumours of an arm injury in training last week are worrying too. A fight not to be missed, and hopefully it lives up to the hype. I am sure it will and the value for me is Wilder to win to at 2.00.

Wilder v Fury 2 Tip: Wilder to win @ 2.00
