Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Open Tips

Yesterday was a good day. From just seven tips, James Punt fired in five winners. Let’s hope for more of the same today. Check out James’ Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Darts Open tips below.

Ryan Searle vs. Mario Vandenbogaerde

Super Mario did an efficient job to beat Zonneveld 6-5. It was only an 88 average, but he did the right things at the right times and performed well under pressure. His seasonal average is 93.4, so he can score better than yesterday. He has won eight of his last ten matches and is confident. Yesterday’s win was his first on the Euro Tour so he will be feeling pretty good about things.

Ryan Searle is the better player and is in top form. He won PC1 and was runner up in PC4 on Sunday. He has won seven of his last ten matches and has had four 103+ averages. There were a couple of sub 90s as well, so he is not bomb proof. He also hasn’t done very well on the Euro Tour. His best finish was a quarter final but for a player with his ability, he has underperformed.

Even H2H

The H2H record is 1-1. Both matches were played last year, and both required a deciding leg.

Ryan Searle is the 1.33 favourite, Mario 3.50. It is tempting to take on Searle and back Mario, but I’ll go for another long match. Mario held his throw well under pressure yesterday and he should win his fair share of legs. If Searle fails to travel again, he could win.

Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Open tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.20 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports

Rob Cross vs. Martijn Dragt

Dragt beat the out of form Ricky Evans 6-2 in yesterday’s opening match. It was a composed performance, a 90 average, but nothing that would worry 1.14 favourite Cross. The former world champion is in decent form, winning six of his last ten matches but he hasn’t had any long runs so far on the pro tour. He has lost in the third round in all four Players Championships.

Cross should be too good for the youngster but this is not a betting match.

Dave Chisnall vs. Lewy Williams

The Prince of Wales put some poor form behind him yesterday to beat Denis Nilsson 6-3, averaging 98.4. He has won five of his last ten but yesterday’s win came on the back of four straight defeats. Yesterday’s average was his best since ET11 last October. That suggests he is more likely to play a lot worse today.

He may have suddenly hit his best form but he has 35 matches between good performances. His 2023 win rate in 35% and I find it hard to accept that he will be averaging high 90’s again today.

Chizzy has won six of his last ten matches and reached the semi-final of PC4 last Sunday. He is regularly averaging mid-90s to ton plus. He is the 1.25 favourite and he should justify those odds, but this is not a great betting opportunity.

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Ritchie Edhouse

Edhouse had a very comfortable 6-2 win yesterday. He averaged 92, picks up his £2500 and goes home.

Van den Bergh is not in great form, losing five of his last ten but his scoring is pretty good with the odd stinker thrown in just to mix things up.

Their H2H record is 2-1 to Dimitri and he won their only Euro Tour match 6-1 back in 2019. Edhouse doesn’t have the fire power to live with Van den Bergh and so long as the Belgian doesn’t have one of his stinkers, he should win with something in hand.

Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Open tips: 1 point Dimitri van den Bergh to win -2.5 legs @ 1.90 with Fitzdares

Joe Cullen vs. Arron Monk

Monk beat Brendan Dolan 6-5 yesterday. It was an entertaining match and he was very happy to win it as it ended a run of four straight defeats. Dolan is not a Euro Tour specialist, quite the opposite, but Cullen is.

Rockstar has three Euro Tour titles under his belt and is very comfortable up on that stage with a big crowd. He is in good form, winning seven of his last ten and hitting some big numbers. Nothing more than a crushing win for Cullen will do.

Cullen is the 1.25 favourite and Monk 4.60 but I’ll take Cullen on the handicap.

Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Open tips: 1 point Joe Cullen to win -2.5 legs @ 1.75 with Boylesports

Damon Heta vs. Bradly Brooks

Heta has lost six of his last ten matches but hit four ton plus averages, including his last three in a row. Heta is a bit of a specialist in scoring great but losing, and one of his defeats was to Bradley Brooks. They met in PC1 and Brooks won 6-2. Heta didn’t play well that day, averaging just 90.8.

Brooks beat Josh Payne 6-2 yesterday but Payne was not feeling well and it was the worst match of the day with both players averaging 83.

Heta has got elite level scoring power, doesn’t quite make the most of it, but it should be too much for Brooks. At least Brooks has that recent win over Heta to draw upon, but he will be lucky to catch the Aussie on another off day.

They have met four times in total, and it is 2-2, but this will be their first stage match. They have played three best of eleven leg matches and none have required more than eight legs. This could be another short one.

Saturday Afternoon Baltic Sea Open tips: 1 point under 8.5 legs @ 2.15 with Ladbrokes, Fitzdares

Danny Noppert vs. Keegan Brown

Brown beat a young Czech qualifier 6-3 yesterday. It was a regulation win for the better player who had to go to Q school to win his card back in January. He has won six of his last ten matches but he has struggled against the top players and Noppert is a top player.

Noppert has won eight of his last ten matches and picked up another title when winning PC 2 a couple of weeks ago. He is 3-1 against Brown in the past and they have met twice on the Euro Tour with one win a piece. Both where close, a 6-4 and 6-5 back in 2019. Noppert is a much improved player since then and he deserves to be the 1.33 favourite. We have backed him outright that that is enough interest for me. No bet.

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Richard Veenstra

Veenstra beat a poor Florian Hempel 6-2 last night with a workmanlike performance. He only averaged 90 but he didn’t need to do anything more and he is better than that. He has won six of his last ten and is a dangerous opponent if Dirk has one of his slow starts.

Like Noppert, Dirk has picked up a title in 2023 with last weekend’s PC4 fresh in his mind. Also like Noppert, he has won eight of his last ten matches. He did have a couple of sub 90 averages but won those two matches 6-5 which is a good sign that he can get over the line when not quite firing.

Dirk is another 1.33 favourite and this is another match where having backed Dirk outright, there is no need to be getting involved at short odds. No bet.
